1961 Lincoln Continental Additional Info:
Up for sale is my 1961 Lincoln. This would be the first year for this model with 2,857 built. This car also sports factory air conditioning making slightly rarer for a convertible. The Lincoln went through a restoration in 2012/ 2013. The car is powered by a freshly rebuilt (documents included) 430 MEL motor linked to an automatic transmission. The automatic shifts as it should, and the car includes an extra transmission (condition unknown) The master cylinder has been upgraded to a dual reservoir for safety and reliability. The brake system is fresh with new lines, hoses, shoes, etc. The steering/suspension has been freshened up with new components such as control arm bushings, tie rod ends, shocks, etc. Fuel system has an original tank that has been sealed to prevent rust and corrosion with new fuel lines, pump, and rebuilt carburetor. The cooling system has gone through and has a re-cored radiator new hoses, pump, reservoir and is tip top. The generator has been replaced with a Delco single wire alternator for reliability. The original generator will be included with the sale. The tires are correct B.F. Goodrich Silvertown 9.00-14 bias plys that have been replaced during the restoration.
The interior has original leather seats, new carpet, perfect woodgrain, and in general very clean. The door panels are original. All the gauges work as they should as well as the clock. The rear view mirror is original but needs resilvering. The convertible top is Black and currently needs repaired. In full disclosure the cylinder that lifts the top itself blew out during adjustment at the end of the restoration. The majority of the switches have been adjusted and set and I have fully raised and lowered the top on this car, but have not since 2013. The car will include a separate convertible top manual.
Underneath the car is solid. My best guess is the car came from somewhere warm and coastal based on the white sand I found when the original carpet was removed.I will include some photos in the listing, and if there are any other particular areas you would like to see just ask. The exhaust has been replaced from headers to tip.
The paint is in very good conditionbut not without a few flaws.Overall the paint shines well, is very smoot, and shines bright. There are a few bubbles on the portion of the body covered by the top when raised. These cars have a foam / rubber seal that seals the top at this portion and I'm guessing it would be a problematic spot on most of these. There is a small chip on the side that has been touched up and a few spots that the sealer has bled through. There is extra paint from the restoration included with the sale of the car. The bumpers are in good shape with the original chrome. The rear left bumper end does show rust. See photos. You are welcome to request any photos and I'd be happy to send them.
I've done my best to describe the car good and bad to the best of my ability. Please look at all the photos as they are part of the description. I would be happy to answer any questions you have and send any more photos you request. The car is currently located in Put-In-Bay Ohio 43456. We are a small island on Lake Erie and the car has been garage kept and used in parades since its restoration. There are ferry boats that run up until the lake freezes and airplanes as well as a small airport here if you should want to come see it. I can make arrangements to get the car back to the mainland for pick up if you desire. Or nearest town would be Port Clinton Ohio. I will assist with shipping after payment. The car has a clean Ohio title.
