1957 Lincoln Other PREMIERE CONVERTIBLE Additional Info:
WE HAVE FOR SALE A RARE 1957 LINCOLN PREMIERE CONVERTIBLE FROM AN ESTATE.
WATCH FOR THE 1958 LINCOLN CONV. MARK III TO BE LISTED SOON!
THE OWNER PASSED AWAY AND WAS IN THE PROCESS OF RESTORING HIS PRIZED CAR. HE OWNED IT SINCE JULY OF 1962.......... THAT'S 54 YEARS WITH ONE FAMILY!!!
HE AND HIS WIFE DATED IN THIS CAR AND SHE WAS QUITE EMOTIONAL AS WE REMOVED THE CAR FROM THEIR GARAGE.
HIS BROTHER TOLD ME THAT HE PAID $14,000 DOLLARS TO GET IT PAINTED AND THAT HE WENT OVER THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, AND DRIVE TRAIN AND THAT IT WAS IN GOOD RUNNING ORDER BEFORE HE GOT SICK.
IT'S BEEN ABOUT 5 YEARS SINCE ANYTHING WAS DONE WITH IT. I STARTED IT BY POURING GAS DOWN THE CARB AND IT SOUNDS VERY GOOD. I HAVE NOT RUN IT FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME BUT WILL TRY TO DO SO IF THE WEATHER WARMS UP A LITTLE. IT'S IN THE 20'S HERE AND WICKED OUTSIDE.
BY LOOKING AT THE FLOORS ON THE UNDERSIDE IT LOOKS AS IF THE BODY MUST HAVE BEEN OFF THE FRAME AS I DON'T SEE HOW YOU COULD CLEAN AND PAINT THE FLOORS LIKE THEY ARE WITH THE FRAME IN THE WAY.
THE SPECIAL CONVERTIBLE FRAME IS IN BEAUTIFUL SHAPE WITH NO SEPARATION OF THE SPECIAL CONV. ONLY REINFORCEMENT PLATE ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FRAME RAILS. ONLY LIGHT SURFACE RUST....... IF THAT.
RIGHT QUARTER HAS SLIGHT RUST ON THE INNER LAYER, LEFT QUARTER SHOWS NONE.
BOTTOM OF DOORS ARE BEAUTIFUL - RUST FREE.
ALL THE GLASS IS IN GOOD SHAPE.
ALL THE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND CONVERTIBLE PARTS ARE THERE INCLUDING THE FRONT BOW SCREW DOWN PODS AND THE RARE PADDED CURVED SUN VISORS.
THE ONLY THINGS I NOTICED MISSING ARE THE RADIO AND THE TRUNK ORNAMENT. I WILL INCLUDE THESE FROM ON OF MY PARTS CARS.
A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF WORK HAS BEEN DONE ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE. I SEE NEW SHOCKS ALL AROUND, ALL DIRT AND GRIME REMOVED AND FLOORS PAINTED, TRANNY LOOKS TO HAVE BEEN GONE OVER AS HAS THE ENGINE. WHEEL WELL SPLASH PANS ARE PAINTED AND NEW BOLTS AND SCREWS USED TO INSTALL, AS IS THE CASE FOR THE FRONT AIR INTAKE SCREENS AND FRONT FENDERS ALSO INSTALLED WITH NEW HARDWARE.
THE REAR SPRINGS EVEN LOOK TO HAVE BEEN TAKEN APART AND NEW CLOTH INSTALLED BETWEEN EACH LEAF.
I DID NOT PULL ANY WHEELS, BUT THE BROTHER SAID THE BRAKES WERE ALL GONE OVER ALSO, BUT HE WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE TREADLE-VAC MASTER CYLINDER. THE M/C HAS A TAG ON IT AND IT LOOKS TO BE A REBUILD THOUGH.
NOW FOR THE BAD PART .......................... THIS CAR HAS THE WORST BODY AND PAINT WORK I HAVE EVER SEEN ON A CAR. THERE IS DIRT IN THE PAINT, NO BLOCK SANDING, A SHAMEFUL JOB FOR A PAYOUT OF $14,000 DOLLARS! SORRY TO SAY, THE OLD FELLOW GOT A BUM JOB FOR THE MONEY. IN MY OPINION, THE CAR MUST BE STRIPPED DOWN AND DONE COMPLETELY OVER. THEY PAINTED THE JAMBS, UNDER HOOD AND DECK LID, ETC. AND THOSE PARTS DON'T LOOK BAD, BUT THE SURFACE OF THE BODY ITSELF FAILS CLOSE INSPECTION TOTALLY.
RESERVE IS VERY REASONABLE FOR A CAR OF THIS CALIBER AND RARITY. ONLY 3,676 WERE EVER BUILT.
NADAGUIDES.COM SHOWS THE VALUE OF THIS CAR AT $39,700 LOW RETAIL ....UP TO $100,000 HIGH RETAIL !!!
RESERVE IS WAY, WAY, WAY BELOW THIS. HAVE NO ROOM TO STORE IT ....... IT MUST GO.
WE HAVE 70 PLUS PICTURES OF THIS CAR WE CAN EMAIL TO YOU SHOWING THE CAR FROM ALL ANGLES AND VIEWS.....TOP TO BOTTOM AND UNDERNEATH. GIVE US A CALL OR TEXT WITH YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS.
THE CAR IS FOR SALE LOCALLY AND WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL THE AUCTION AT ANY TIME.
THE CAR IS SOLD AS IS...............WHERE IS.........
THANKS FOR LOOKING THE HAPPY BIDDING!!

With regards to the 57 Convertible.
The brakes do work! I was told they didn't. The pedal goes down about halfway, but it stops the car well.
I attached a black fuel line from a gas can with fresh fuel and an electric pump to the carb. Then I ran a clear tube from the line coming from the fuel tank into an empty gas can.
I started the car and ran it for about 15 minutes. It pumped all the old gas (about 5 gallons) out of the tank in the gas can. I then put fresh fuel in the tank, hooked the fuel line back up to the carb and now the cars is running on it's own.
It goes into gear positively, accelerates good, backs up good, the power steering works.
I ran it for another half hour or so until the radiator was warm. No leaks in radiator, antifreeze looks very clean.
I now have the 57 Convertible running on it's own and drove it up and down the lane and the motor and tranny feel strong. Very little will have to be done to this drive train.
See the attached pictures. The one with white smoke coming out the exhaust is from a cold start and the temperature outside was about 25 degrees. Once the condensation vapors burned off, the exhaust is clear. The other pictures are all with the car running. Notice the car running with the breather cap off. No vapors coming out. Notice the fan blade is turning indicating the car is running.
