1979 Land Rover 88

Here is a very special 1979 Land Rover 88 Series III that was originally built by Metalugica de Santa Ana S.A. in Spain and later completely refurbished and restored in Columbia prior to being imported to the United States in 2024. Finished with a Sand exterior and Black Land Rover interior along with a Black top with roll up sides. The odometer currently reads 69,398 kilometers.

During the restoration This 88 was completely disassembled, stripped and repainted with Sand Beige paint. Many trim pieces were replaced or restored as well. A new Black soft top, lights and door gaskets were added to give this Land Rover a new look and feel. 16 Inch steel wheels were refinished and fitted with new Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain tires as well. This really is a stunning example in every regard.

During the restoration the 2.25 liter gasoline 4 cylinder engine was overhauled and paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Monroe shocks, power steering and front disc brakes were fitted to make the drive a bit more relaxed and enjoyable. The 4 cylinder engine is as quiet and smooth as can be and the transmission shifts properly through all of the gears. An electronic ignition and electronic fuel pump were installed for modern day reliability. This really is a fun Land Rover to drive.

The interior is stunning. The Black vinyl split front bench seats are in remarkable condition (see pictures) and the four rear side facing bench seats really add to the character of this Landy. During the extensive restoration sliding side windows and a wood cargo area floor were added. This 88 retains the original large 3 spoke steering wheel and gauges as well.

The 1979 Land Rover 88 Series III Santana really is the ultimate collectable sport utility vehicle that can be used and enjoyed on a regular basis.
