1959 Land Rover Defender Additional Info:

Please note: This is the last price adjustment before the listing ends in a few days. Once it ends I am not re-listing. I'll be storing the truck for the winter and listing again in the spring (with convertible weather pricing :) so it's a good time to strike a pre-winter deal!

This is a mechanically and electrically sorted, 1959 diesel Series 2. No rust! There is surface oxidation on parts underneath but everything is solid. Comes with a soft top and hoops shown in one of the last pictures. This truck was imported from Italy by the person I bought it from. It was built in England- it is NOT a Santana. The Italian owner did some mechanical and electrical restoration, but the person I bought it from encountered some running issues (excessive smoking and stalling).I purchased this truck as a non-running project over the summer, and it is now running and driving as it should. The problem ended up being the timing of the fuel injectors.

This was from the Italian owner:
“I am selling Land Rover Series II of 1959. Diesel 3-seater truck. Vintage vehicle. Performed many restoration work on electrical and motor parts. Perfect mechanical and electrical conditions. Complete with new canvas roof, new ribs kit, moving lights and arrows, new electrical system, new brakes, new tires and repaired wheels. All the works have been carried out in Land Rover by specialized technicians. All documented, including receipts of purchased components. The vehicle works perfectly, marching. To be reviewed the bodywork, a very healthy frame.
Mechanically perfect. Rebuilt brakes, lights, electrical system, tarpaulin, ribs, complete wheels (rims and tires).Everything works except the fuel gauge because you need to replace the float.Reduced, all-wheel drive and freewheel hubs work flawlesslyVery good steering horn ok headlights, stop arrows all perfectThe car is reliableIt works very well both off-road and on the road”

…and this is the work my mechanic performed:

Work left for next owner: I believe one turn signal light has stopped working since the work done, and the gas gauge also does not register fuel level (needs in-tank sending unit). Lastly, the threaded hood latch pin is too long to get perfectly adjusted. A shorter one is included but needs to be installed/adjusted. Includes a bin of random spares as well as the side windows not pictured. True milage unknown.

Currently registered and sold with a CT bill of sale and registration; CT is a no title state for vehicles of this age. PLEASE NOTE that this excludes using the new EBay secure check out, which is also not set up for international purchases at this time. It is not an option to deselect that payment method when listing, but it is not usable. I prefer a direct bank wire, and will work with the buyer if another electronic method is preferred, but buyer is responsible for any related fees (PayPal for example). I have sold three of my other classic vehicles on eBay this year; please see my 100% positive feedback from over 25 years on eBay.

I have decided I’d like the garage space for another vehicle, so I am ready to pass this beautiful truck on to a new caretaker. I will consider reasonable offers. It will be sold as is, where is, and it is a 66 year old truck. Original specs state a 58mph top speed but I have not attempted to push it past 40-45, so this is not recommended for modern highway travel. It’s perfect for around town, beach town rides or farm fun. Deposit is non-refundable; please ask all questions before purchase. Thanks!
