This 1990 Land Rover Range Rover Classic County is a short-wheelbase example. Power is supplied by a GM LS3 6.2-liter V8 with 430 HP, mated to a 6L80E automatic transmission and an LT230 transfer case.
History This is a two owner vehicle. The original owner purchased the Range Rover new in Kansas, and owned it until 2014. The current owner purchased it in 2014 with just over 138,000 miles, and brought it to Texas where it has remained since. He kept it in indoor storage from 2014 to 2018, before completing an extensive restomod.
Engine Swap
In 2018, the current owner, an aeronautical engineer, commissioned an engine swap to a GM LS3 6.2-liter V8 from a Camaro SS, mated to 6L80 6-speed electronic automatic transmission with sequential shift. The swap from the stock 3.9L V8 engine is highly desirable due to doubled horsepower, increased reliability, and ease of maintenance. The swap was completed by a shop called Beyond the Street, located in Texas. The LS engine had roughly 12,000 miles on it when it went it, and very few miles have been added since. All receipts for the swap will accompany the sale.
Mechanical Condition
The Range Rover has been extremely well kept, with service records from new to back up maintenance. It starts easily and drives well. The LS really wakes the truck up, and there is more than enough power. In addition to the engine swap, the owner upgraded the suspension to Sheffield steel springs imported from England, as well as Bilstein gas dampers to the front and adjustable Koni dampers to the rear.
Interior Condition
The interior is extremely tidy and in excellent shape. The hard dash and center console have been retrimmed in grey to contrast with the original Sorrell brown Connolly leather seats. It has the original, optional lambs wool overmats. The headliner is tight, the dash wood is in excellent shape, and there are no cracks or rips. It has an aftermarket Alpine stereo fitted with an amp & sub. Parts to revert to standard are included. All the window and door seals have been replaced with new NOS items, as have the lamp units. Dynamat was fitted in both the engine bay and load space for sound damping.
Exterior & Body Condition
The body and chassis are completely free of rust. The owner commissioned a bare metal, etch primed paint job, refinished in Porsche GTS Sapphire blue to replace the original Chamonix white. Subsequent upgrades include a genuine TWR Brooklands body kit imported from English, as well as genuine NOS Range Rover embossed mudflaps imported the the UAE. The wheels are genuine Land Rover Supercharged 20” with 275/40/20 Pirelli PZeros.
