1990 Land Rover Defender Additional Info:
Thanks for viewing our listing for this Solid Defender 130 (127) Rapier V8 RHD - 1989. Ex Military (with only 42k kms)
A brief history behind this vehicle, This is the very rare Rapier 127 (aka Rapier Tractor), they towed the Rapier ground to air missile launchers in the UK military. With several heavy duty upgrades, including uprated double rear springs, double pulley belts in the engine bay, grounding straps everywhere plus others. This vehicle was believed to have been in both the Army & Air Force. Green paint under the blue, serving a large part of its life in the UK base in sunny dry Greece. Once decommissioned for the military, it was used on a motor cross park, doing shuttles & picking up bikes. This is who I then purchased the vehicle from 5 years ago.
We intended to fully restore this vehicle & convert to a 130 4 door truck however with many other projects & a booming defender parts business we just don't have the time so are passing onto someone who is looking for a fun project.
Please note, this project is recommended for someone who knows Defenders as its not your standard 90 or 110.
It has only been driven 42K kms over the last 30 years, hence the history in the military they did not put alot of miles on these trucks. So is a superb base truck for a project.
The Good:
1. The frame is in superb condition with no rot or rust anywhere2. The Bulkhead is in good condition, a few small rust areas but overall in good shape with no previous repairs.3. Axles & drivetrain in great condition as expected for this mileage4. V8 is in great condition & fires right up
The not so Good
1. Its a ugly duck, as most military vehicles are, the paintwork is bad. The hood has seen better days however the remaining panels are corrision free & straight (minus a small bent on the RH front wing)2. The battery box has bad corrision / rust. Im guessing a battery once leaked & has rusted out the bottom of the battery box. A new battery box panel kit will be included free of charge with the vehicle.3. The SU carbs needs attention, I believe it pulled in some dirt from the tank when the fuel was low. The tank was flushed, new fuel filter added. Its only runs on choke, I dont have time to clean & mess with it. I did however recently give it an oil change, new spark plugs, dizzi cap, leads, fuel filter.4. A few rust holes on each door.
That about wraps it up. If you have any questions please either message us or call me on 239-682-7382. It has a clean FL Title in hand. 2 standard front seats will be re-installed prior to pickup. Sold as seen, No warranty, Funds must clear prior to pickup. VIN # SALLDHAV7FA421950
Located, Bonita Springs, FL
If the buyer intends to convert this to a 130 double cab, overlander etc, we can sell 4 Brand New push button doors for $2000. We can also sell the sill rail with B post & c post as well as any other panels required.
