1986 Land Rover Defender Additional Info:
This is a 1986 Land Rover Defender 90 originally imported from the UK. Car has been Arkansas for the past 3 years and has a clean Arkansas Classic Car Title.
What to know:
-Engine is the original 2.5L Diesel with a 5 speed transfer case. It is a RH drive.-These are not fast cars but they can drive up, over and on everything!-Gears shift really well, and top speed is approx. 60 miles an hr, although prefers 45-50 miles an hour.-Engine starts well on a cold start and is reliable for everyday or weekend use.
Lots of work has been done to this car:
-Car has an aftermarket roll bar fitted but can easily be removed.-All seats are in excellent condition, I assume previous owner replaced them with originals.-Cubby box fitted.-Full waxoyl of chassis to prevent erosion.-New springs and suspension on all 4 wheels.-5 new BF Goodrich tires.-NAS rear wheel/door mechanism.-Original NAS defender alloy wheels.-Updated lighting cases.-New font bumper/bull bar.-New rear bumper and step up.
What you need to know:
-Interior door panels are original but I would say need to be replaced for aesthetic reasons.-Speedometer recently stopped working and needs to bereplaced.-Paint color is not the original and is a flat gray. (Some areas of chipping, painted by previous owner).-There is no radio currently fitted.-There are small spots of erosion as you would expect in footwells and on some of the door lines.-It's a 32 year old truck, so expect for some bits and pieces to rattle!
I own a 1995 NAS Defender 90 that I absolutely love in addition to this one. I originally acquired this truck to have as a beach only, surf truck that I was going to slowly restore over a few years. I can send you some of the pics I had for inspiration if anyone is interested. In the end I unfortunately now do not have the extra indoor garage space to do the work so she has to go. As is she runs and works great. And for those who might have a question around LH vs. RH drive, the RH drive did not bother me for what I used the truck for, but is a personal POV.
Happy to answer any questions. I can send a video of engine start up on request, or any other additional photos.
Serious bidders only please. Car is listed on other websites and therefore I have the right to end this auction at any time.
