1986 Land Rover Defender 110, soft top pickup, Ex-British Ministry of Defense (right-hand drive.) 2.5L 4-cyl Diesel engine, 5-speed manual transmission, 4-wheel drive, high/low ratio transfer case, differential locks, 143,000 km (89,000 miles.)
Vehicle served in the British Army from 1986 to 2004 and was imported from England earlier this year. Now registered in Texas with a clear TX Title in my name.
This is a very original unmodified example that starts, runs and drives very well. Steering, brakes, suspension, clutch, gears, all work as they should. Vehicle drives nice and tight with no known mechanical issues. Transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. The 2.5L naturally aspirated diesel engine starts easily and runs quiet with good power.
The vehicle has extensive maintenance records dating back to 2010 and has had thousands spent on it and lots of new parts with receipts to prove. It has just been serviced with new filters, fresh oil change and rear exhaust replaced.
The vehicle has a new set of steel wheels fitted with Goodyear Wrangler MT/R off-road tires. This set costing ~$1500.
A new canvas top was installed in 2015 and is in excellent condition. The sides of the canvas top can be rolled up for sunny days or rolled down for bad weather or added security.
The all aluminum bodywork is straight and tidy but has been repainted over the years and is peeling in places. (The military kept them well protected with frequent repaints.)
Interior is basic military spec but is all original, clean and tidy. New fitted floor mats are included.
The underside has surface rusted but is solid. The chassis has never been welded. The foot wells have been repaired to a good standard. The underside could benefit from rust preventative treatment to help preserve it for the future.
Overall this is a great Land Rover ready for many years of service. You can enjoy this vehicle as is or it has the perfect bones for transformation into something special. An appreciating classic!
You get LOTS of attention driving this cool rare vehicle!
