You’re looking at an unmolested timepiece of a Defender 110! Here is aright hand drive, legally imported British1983 Land Rover Defender 3.5L V8 with a bulletproofLT95 transmission andFaireyOverdrive with 101,600 original miles.
I am the second owner and the first treated this truck with extreme care. I have made a couple modifications, listed later, in order to spruce it up and make it more reliable. On the outside is the original two tone paint job that has been untouched. The coyote brown body and ivory roofCounty trimare unique and represent some of the original Land Rover paint schemes. It is in excellent condition and can easily be touched up for perfect restoration.
The chassis and undercarriage were treated by the first owner with aWaxoylcoating to reduce and protect from any further rust. The rear cross member is new and in excellent shape, chassis is solid with two patches, outriggers in fantastic shape, suspension and shock towers in excellent condition andfrontdumb iron is structurally sound as well (a little rusting on the topside but nothing serious).
There is very little rust on the exterior and even less on the interior, a true gem. The rust youwill see:a little on the passenger floor pan, but I have purchased a new one and will provide it with the purchase. While the windows are all two-piece slides versusretractable, they open in a comfortable way and further prevent the door pans from rusting because water does not collect in the openings, a huge plus!
I have used the Land Rover factory Water Ingress manual to leak proof the truck, so there are no more leaks now!
I have replaced all window seals, wiper arms and blades, replaced the front and middle row seatswithExmoortrim seating (covered with waterproof canvas covers by King Line),and installeda brand newBritpartcubbyin the front and middle.
The bestinterioraddition is theprofessionallyapplied Lizard Skin SoundControltreatment to the interior of the cab. Everything was stripped from the interior, sanded, primed and meticulously sprayed with the1mmsound coating to reduce road and engine noise. You can now hear yourself think while driving comfortably 70+ mph.
The engine has been rebuilt too! When I bought the truck the original dual carbsran too rich and needed seriousreworking. I removed the dual carb and installed anEdelbrock4 barrel singlecarb, manifoldandlarge air intake. It doesn’t stop there! When I removed the top of the engine blockfor the install, I found that the cam shaft was stripped on the 6, 7, and 8 cylinder and all tappets were worn badly. Since we were in the engine we replaced all of that in addition to brand new engine and oil pan gasketsand belts. This engine runs like a dreamnow! Thebattery, starter, chokeand electronic ignition were replaced to make sure it starts without a hitch.
Since the engine is newly restored, I had to replace the wheels and tires to make it off-road ready. Replaced the original 5x16wheels and 205/55R16tires with5 brand new7.5x16 modular steel wheels and255/85R16 Cooper Discoverer Maxx M/T tires. Additionally, there is arearbumper mount added to install your hi-lift 1.2 meter jack, as pictured.
For the purist or restoration enthusiast, I have kept all the original parts (minus thefrontseats) in the event someone wants to strip it and replace thetruckto original. These include: points ignition, dual carburetor, dual air intake and 5 original wheels.
Sadly, the Defender production line shut down in 2016 butthesetrucks will only increase in value and I’ve put about $10,000 into it already.Needless to say, this baby is ready to go and can be driven with no further modifications or maintenance needed!
You might be wondering why I’m getting rid of it if it’s in such good condition? I am a Land Rover enthusiast and really enjoyed this vehicle as a hobby but after the countless hours I spent looking for a gem like this and the hours I’ve put into it, I have too many competing life priorities right now and need to focus time and finances on them instead.
Please know this is a well-loved vehicle that has been cared for meticulously andextensively and I have all service records and import documentation to pass on as well.
If you require further pictures or video, please message me and I'll pass them along. This truck is a rare find!
