1991 Land Rover Discovery Base/ Manual V8 Additional Info:
This truck is a 1991, but the genius ebay program does not recognize the European VIN format, so one must either say truck is a 198, or make up a VIN That will work.. Rest assured, truck is a 1991 Model Year, and actual VIN# is SALLJGBL8HA467526.
PLEASE visit zombiemotors.net for more info and photos of this and a Mitsubishi Delica 4x4, and Toyota Surf turbo diesel & VW Doka Syncro turbo diesel we will be listing here shortly!
I often type many paragraphs of details here that I do not think anyone reads, so I am going to try to keep this short and sweet.
Truck has very low miles (172,850KM = 107,200 actual miles) - Look closely at the pictures, while it looks like a Boring Old Discovery, it is actually a 2-door model, never sold here in the USA, and produced overseas for only the first few years the Discovery was made. Many different details to the truck like rear windows pop open but do not roll down, non-airbag dash and steering wheel, different center console cubby, non-power sunroofs pop out and can be stowed away in fitted bag on back of rear seat, does have jump seats in back, so this truck seats 7 comfortably .. It is much more rare than a Defender while still having the off-road prowess of one, it is actually comfortable and would make a practical every day driver. I would venture to guess this is the only 2-Door Disco in the USA, and certainly the only one for sale right now.
Have you noticed what has happened with the prices to Range Rover Classics in the last few years?? I think this will happen to the early Discoverie, especially the hard to find manual transmission models. How rare is a 2 - door? Mighty rare here. In my opinion, this is a truck to fix up and save, and you will have one of the most unusua, yet usable, Classic Land Rovers around.
I do land rover turbo-diesel Tdi engine conversions, if you prefer this truck has a diesel for better reliability / fuel economy/ and ease of use. Message or call me for more info, if you are interested.
In shor, this truck starts, stops, runs and drive, and not necessarily in that exact order. You can hop in there and drive anywhere you want right now. That being said, it is a little bit of a project as there are several small things you could sort out. Truck DOES have air conditioning, but the blower fan cuts off when the compressor kicks on. There are a few isolated spots of paint flaking off on the outside aluminum body panels. Body is straight and paint is original. Sunroofs leaked when I pressure washed them... but maybe I did not have them cranked down all the way? Back door is a replacement, and green paint does not quite match rest of body. Bet you did not notice until I told you! It is very close... Tires stink. This would benefit from alloy wheels and new tires, greatly. Transmission is finicky going into 4th, but you get used to it quickly. I am sure there are other things, but they are all of a non-significant nature, in my opinion... except there is no radio. There is a space, and wires, but no actual radio. This should be fixed, immediately.
Wipers on one speed only, headlight washers not hooked up, little things like this to address.. But again, I would hop in and drive it across the country now. If it had a radio in it, I would.
Seats are non-power and in good, but not perfect condition. Glass all good. Dark tint to rear windows. Headliner perfect, and of a more robust material than our later headliners, which all sag... they should have kept using this stuff! It matched seats and door panels, too.
Body has surface rust underneath, consistent with vehicles from some European countries. Not rusted through though, no holes/ etc. Not bad, like a truck from the Northeast USA.
Put some OEM rims and new tires on this and it would look about 90 % better. I have a few sets here... if it does not sell this time around, I'll be doing that myself and relisting.
Right now, truck has European ownership documents and all proper CBP/EPA/ETC import paperwork for you to get a title in any state.. except California. If you are in CA, I will obtain Georgia title for you before truck ships to you, so you will have no trouble registering in your state.
