1988 Land Rover Defender Additional Info:

I am selling this Defender for one reason: I don't want to store it for 4 years. I purchased my all-time dream vehicle about two years ago, which happened to be this right-hand drive D110, with the ridiculously massive transmission that is twice the size of the engine---I have spent these past two years getting it mechanically sound, now with no leaks, new brakes, and a newly rebuilt engine, all to find out that I am moving to Buenos Aires. I'm not complaining about that (good wine and quality steaks are hard to find sympathy for), but I have young kids and can only bring one car---we can talk about my situation if you have questions, but suffice it to say that I will be selling a Defender now and likely be buying another one in about four years---I have copies of all the receipts for the work that I've done over the last 2 years, totaling almost $10,000. This matte-black D110 has the 2.5 Turbo diesel 19J engine. This was original when I bought it, but I had Safari Heritage Parts (of Orlando, Florida) completely rebuild it, and actually provide a 3-month warranty after the rebuild. It's been over three months since they finished, so the warranty is no longer in effect, but the new rebuild (completed May 2016) has been flawless for me. It's fitted with oversize tires that really excel off-road or in any type of rugged terrain. If you park in a parking garage (like I do), be prepared to use the parking brake while you reach over to the left side window to pay the fare...but also be sure to factor extra time into your commute to answer questions and return high-fives from virtually everyone you see. The door bottoms are solid with no holes as is the bulkhead, The cross member is in great shape as-well. The mileage on the truck is just over 128k, with less 1,000 miles since the engine rebuild (I had it shipped from Orlando to Ottawa, Canada---where I am now). It is a beast on the trail---I won't insult anyone here explaining why the D110 is the best 4X4XFAR, as goes the bumper sticker. What I will say is that I don't know why this couldn't be a daily driver---unless you have a really long commute and need to travel at 80 mph, I find taking this to and from work to be invigorating---it's fun to look forward to interacting with everyone that wants to talk to you. When I was shopping around to find a mechanic in Ottawa who could take care of the existing leaks, I was told by a diesel mechanic that "I see your problem right away"...so I asked what he was talking about. His response was "you're missing the machine gun".

It's an awesome truck, and now with all the quirks worked out. I can potentially drive (or ship...whatever makes sense) the D110 to where you are. I'm planning on driving from Ottawa down to Florida starting around 19 September---so if you are interested and on the eastern seaboard....let me know. Thanks for reading and please let me know if you have any questions---the one thing that you can be sure of is that I am a straight shooter and happy to answer any questions you have---hopefully you'll be able to enjoy everything that I'll miss about this D110.
