From 1957 to 1970, the Lancia Flaminia, in all of its variations, was the flagship of the Lancia marque. Especially rare was the Flaminia GT coupé - bodied by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan, these Superleggera aluminum bodied cars epitomized the luxury grand tourer of Italian fame.

Lancia had long been known for its technological innovations and by the time the Flaminia GT was introduced, many of these developments had been refined with previous options now as standard. The 2.5L V6 from the B24S had been updated to now produce 119bhp. The rear-mounted transaxle contained synchros on all four gears as well as inboard disc brakes - a major improvement over the previous drums. Also gone was the sliding pillar front suspension in favor of a more modern and better handling double wishbone and coil spring arrangement. All of this meant that one could now easily - and safely - attain speeds well over 100mph in pure comfort and sophistication. The GTL (seen here) was stretched slightly over the GT to allow for two rear seats. The majority of the GTL cars also featured the (again) up-rated V6 (now 2.8L) which, in 3C spec was now good for 150bhp. The GTL was otherwise unchanged from the GT Coupe.

This particular Example has been off of the road since the late 90's. It was parked in northern California for some time before being relocated to New Mexico where it was acquiredform its previous owner. It is a very original example of the Flaminia GTL with original cosmetics inside and out. The car has excellent panel fit all around. The coachwork on this car was done by “Carrozzeria Touring” which offers an elegant style on the Flamina chassis.

This car recently had major service work done totaling $28,000. The fuel system has been rebuilt including the carburetors and fuel tank. The entire braking system has been gone through and repaired, including the brake booster and master cylinder. The front and rear calipers have been rebuilt and it has a set of fresh rotors on the front. The engine had to come out in order to remove and repair a snapped off banjo fitting on the block. While it was out it was fitted with new engine mounts. As with any typical service, the valves were adjusted to spec. The battery box, located behind the front grill, had rusted through, so a new tray was fabricated to original specifications and welded in. The car sports a brand new set of correct style tires. The entire cooling system has gone through and rebuilt including the radiator. The rear transaxle was removed to be serviced, and the inboard rear brakes were rebuilt at the same time.
