1958 Jeep Willys
Following is a description of my 1958 CJ5 which I am Title holder. Its top speed is 40's... tail wind and gradespecific.
My Kaiser Willys Jeep has not seen dirt in quite some time although the body shows a well-cared for work machine with a few bruises here and there.
It’s powered by a good running F-134 four cylinder coupled to stock running gear and axles. (three speed transmission and transfer case). Additions include a new high capacity heater, fuse box, updated wiring, map and dome lights, gauges, 12 volt alternator and aluminum radiator. The body was slightly modified in the seat area by the previous owner and the removed pieces are included. (See driver side padding and notched area behind the seat)
Installed on the CJ is a direct bolt on 1955 M38A-1 grill and NOS bezels. New ten leaf springs (option for CJ5) up front (front shackles) and new shocks. Also period correct are the oil bath air cleaner, point ignition and tail lights.
The tread plate installed on the corners and sides do not cover rust as far as I can tell. (previous owner) There have been repairs in the center behind the fuel tank area and it appears to have a slight body lift.
Recent items changed, added and work performed include olive drab Aervoe paint. The entire jeep was hand scraped down to the original primer and then block sanded. There was no filling done but slight patches of filler were discovered here and there. Newer seats, new taillights, headlights, front turn signals, oil change in engine, transmission, transfer case and axles, new NDT tires including spare, wheels and locks, pushrod cover gasket, fuel filter, new wiper motor, Cole Hersee switches, steering wheel, battery disconnects, front and rear pinion seals, new parking brakes including cable and correct pull handle, new gas can and strap, spare tire mount, cowl seal, custom license plate frame and new green seat belts. It does leak some oil while parked.
The Jeep has a working Warn winch mounted with canvas cover and stereo with remote speaker. Idon'tknow much about the stereo other than I question why and its a Pioneer.
Included but not put on back on is a full roof and doors (like new but does have some mold spots on the ceiling from sitting before I purchased it) and avery nice tow bar. I can install these for shipping if you request.
Many hours were spent and great care was given to this ongoing project. Put it back into service, use it as a Sunday driver or continue on with the project. This jeep is a great example of a true survivor and a lot of fun to drive on a sunny day.
