Looking over the specs for this very impressive 1984 Jeep CJ7, one word keeps showing up: NEW. Given a total rebuild within the past few years, this is a well-built and very fresh CJ that's ready to show or have fun blasting around the trails. And both tasks will be especially enjoyable thanks to a great-running and bulletproof 6-cylinder powerplant under the hood. Wearing a brand new AJ's heavy-duty fiberglass body, this Jeep looks right and never has to worry about rust again. The paint and bodywork were done a little while ago, and might be the oldest features on the truck, which tells you something about how comprehensively it's been freshened. For a vehicle built for off-roading, the finish is pretty darned good, with a great shine and a minimum of bumps and bruises that would suggest it's been used hard. The brand new body is obviously in very good order and someone spent the time to get the fiberglass smooth and wave-free. Fender flares, tubular bumpers with a front grille guard, and a heavy-duty tire rack out back give it a heavy-duty off-roading vibe that clearly speaks to its abilities rather than just wanting to have the look. On the other hand, things like the folding windshield, round headlights, and traditional chrome grille are reminders that Jeeps have always been, well, Jeeps. You can see more evidence of this Jeep's off-road credentials inside, where you'll find a set of high-back bucket seats with heavy-duty denim seat covers from Bestop. The dash was painted to match the bodywork, then filled with stock gauges and an auxiliary 12-volt power point underneath. However, it's not completely uncivilized, there's a Pioneer AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth stereo in the locking center console, and it feeds extra speakers that actually sound decent even with the wind whipping past the windshield. The floors are protected by spray-on bed liner material, so you can just rinse it out after a day of fun and it should last forever. And in the event of inclement weather, a full convertible top and soft doors are included and they're in very good condition so it doesn't have that tattered look that afflicts so many otherwise nice CJs.With a 258 cubic inch inline-6 under the hood, there aren't many places this Jeep can't go. Extensive modifications make it a formidable performer off-road, and the head was rebuilt, so it's fresh and ready to go. It doesn't look like it was detailed for show, but it's a strong runner that has the kind of low-RPM torque that's critical for off-roading fun. Power steering and power disc brakes are welcome on a vehicle with such large tires and things like the power steering pump, hoses, radiator, water pump, and thermostat are new. The 4-speed manual transmission and 2-speed transfer case mean that it's easy to climb over obstacles at barely a walking pace. A 2.5-inch lift kit was installed just recently and it includes Pro-Comp shocks at each corner. Dual exhaust pipes with Flowmaster mufflers give it a great sound that will remain distinctive among all the six-cylinder Jeeps around it. Cool 15-inch alloys look fantastic, especially wrapped in 32.5x11.5-15 BFGoodrich off-road radials that are ready for just about anything.Well-built and full of new equipment, it's obvious that this Jeep was built for fun in the dirt above all else, and it definitely delivers in that regard.
