Grand Wagoneer by Classic Gentleman presents this beautifully restored INCREDIBLE LOW 39,750 MILE 1989 Grand Wagoneer. Carfax confirms the super low miles are true, climbing slowly over the years, no accidents ever reported against her and all southern state registrations from new into 2022. – The established history of outstanding low miles, no accidents and no winter road salt exposure, make this one a real stand out.

This Grand arrived here via one of our favorite clients & collectors who has purchased several Classic Gentleman restorations from us. He was also looking for a uber low miledarkblue Grand Wagoneer and since we didn’t have one at the time he was on the hunt, he purchased this particular Jeep directly from the Wagonmaster in the summer of 2022. – So, whilst this isn’t a Classic Gentleman restoration, and we haven’t performed any works on her ourselves, her restoration was completed by another nationally respected restorer, the Wagonmaster. Less than 2,000 miles have been added to her after the mid 2022 restoration, and she was conscientiously looked after by an experienced collector.

THE RESTORATION PROCESS

In the process of restoring this Grand Wagoneer in mid 2022, the Wagonmaster replaced or renewed all major systems and their components including:

Cooling System:radiator, fan clutch, water pump, thermostat, hoses

A/C System:compressor, condenser, evaporator, hoses and fittings, duct work cleaned and reinstalled, system flushed, pressurized, and recharged

Installed new Howell Fuel Injection system:including new intake manifold, spark plugs, wires, distributor, coil, ignition module, starter and solenoid, new 90 amp alternator, new wires and connectors, vacuum lines, new electric fuel pump and filter and sending unit

Steering:power steering pump, lines, and gearbox renewal, bushings, steering stabilize installed, upper and lower ball joints and control arms inspected tightened, new wheel bearings, seals, tie rod ends, connectors, wheel alignment

Engine:New, commercially remanufactured Jasper 360ci 5.9 Liter V8 engine with block heads, camshaft, valvetrain components, oil pan, timing cover, finishing gasket set, front and rear main seals replaced, new seals throughout, oil pump, oil pan seal, motor mounts

Transmission:inspected, fluid flushed, refilled, resealed, leak tested, transfer case inspected, adjusted, serviced, resealed, u joints inspected, 2 and 4 wheel capabilities assured

Brake System:new rotors, drums, pads, shoes, wheel cylinder, brake system flushed

Suspension:frame/chassis inspected, cleaned, undercoated for longevity, 4 new shocks installed, body mounts

Exhaust System:new muffler, catalytic converter, tailpipe installed

Tires and Wheels:TOYO235x75x15 WSW All-Weather tires, complete set of professionally re-surfaced original wheels

Electrical:inside and outside lights, switches, locks, motors, windows, renewed and updated

Sound System:new Kenwood CD/AM-FM/SAT radio with Bluetooth and iPhone connections, 4 new speakers, wiring

New and/or Renewed interior:The seats were all reupholstered along with new seat belts added. The original shag carpet on this low mile piece was beautiful enough to keep in place, with a professional cleaning. The headliner was newly installed along with a reconditioning of the door panels, kick panels, skid plates, window seals and wipes, weatherstripping, soundproofing.Newdarkblue metallic paint, new woodgrain, new molding, refreshed chrome, trim, underside undercoated.Lastly, a large variety of new or original nuts, bolts, screws, connectors, wiring, seals, fuses, links, trim pieces were used in the process.

Still, and here is the most honest paragraph you have perhaps ever seen from a restoration house/dealer, in some ways these Jeeps were terrible even when they were new. Sometimes we wonder if automotive engineering was more of a hobby with Jeep executives. For example, a Grand Wagoneer was the very last vehicle produced in America still fitted with a carburetor. The factory installing an ancient artifact like a carburetor to these Grands is a perfect example of Wagoneers being more primitive than other vehicles of the same model years. Now we automatically upgrade and modernize each of our Grands with MODERN FUEL INJECTION, eliminating the troublesome carburetor and therefore also eliminating the next owner having to constantly hector his local Jeep service advisor to adjust the carburetor. But, in most every other way, we can’t change the method these were built by the factory. In many respects the manufacturer used outdated technology and manufacturing methods and as a restorer, we will always be compromised by that circumstance. Did you know you can remove the front grill from a final year 1991 Grand Wagoneer and behind it still see the round cut out holes for the 1963 Jeep Wagoneer headlights? Those are just two examples above to illuminate the discussion. Therefore, please understand you will do more maintenance and servicing of a vintage Grand Wagoneer than a modern piece, even one we have restored. That is just a truth, fellow enthusiast. If you don’t have the un-excitability and tolerance for that, then let us say to you candidly, don’t buy one. But let us also remind you that it is indeed that old school style and looks of a Grand Wagoneer that have made them so ever popular today.
