Classic 4x4 is pleased to present this highly original, low mileage and refurbished 1982 Jeep J10 Custom Townside long bed. This exceptionally clean truck is finished inSlate Blue Metallic with Olympic White accents and a blue interior. It is powered by a 6-cylinder engine, 4 speed manual transmission and dual range transfer case. It stops with factory power brakes and steers with factory power steering. Refurbished under previous and current ownership, this J-10 looks just as nice as it drives.
The Jeep J10 J-Series pickup truck was produced by AMC from1974 to 1983. An older version, the Gladiator, was manufactured from 1963 to1973 and is virtually identical to the subsequent J-Series pickups. All trucks shared the same body work of the Jeep Wagoneer and Cherokee from the cab forward and were offered with step side or traditional slab side bodies, known as the Sportside and Townside. The J10was offered with a 7-foot bed on a 119-inch wheelbase or an 8-foot bed on a131-inch wheelbase.
This J10 appears to have only had 5 owners and travelled65,698 original miles over the past 42 years. It spent its life in the dry climates of Montana, Utah, Texas andArkansas before it was acquired for the current owners classic 4x4 collection and relocated to New Jersey in 2022. It has a clean Carfax that corroborates the mileage and ownership history.
The truck is powered by what is known by enthusiasts as theJ10s most reliable powertrain combination. The powertrain appears to be original and starts, runs and drives like it has 65,698 original miles. The iconicAMC 258 inline 6 cylinder engine is paired to a Tremec T-177 4 speed manual transmission mated to a New Process 208 dual range transfer case. Power is sent to the wheels through a pair of front and rear Dana 44 axles with Warn front locking hubs. Under previous ownership, a manual chokeWeber carburetor was added. It is apparent this truck was very well maintained under previous and current ownership. Under current ownership it underwent a comprehensive preventative maintenance regimen. This Included, tuning the carburetor, resetting the timing, synthetic powertrain fluids, fuel tank, sending unit, fuel pump, soft fuel lines, fuel filter, air filter, starter, spark plugs, plug wires, valve cover, PCV valve, radiator, water pump, hoses, belts, wipers, power steering pump and pressure lines, front and rear brakes, new spare tire and31 x 10.5 General Grabber A/TX tires with less than 200 miles.
The J10 is finished in 2C Slate Blue Metallic, which is the factory color indicated on the trim tag.Under previous ownership, it appears to have undergone a quality repaint with the replacement of body and glass rubber seals. Under current ownership the bed was lined and the factory original front brush guard and rear step bumper were painted, all in Olympic White. A factory reproductionPhoenix Graphix white vinyl decal added to the upper body line. A Hi-Lift Patriot Edition jack was mounted tothe front brush guard. A removable flip and fold Rugged Ridge gray vinyl bench seat and seatbelts were installed in the bed, increasing seating capacity to five.In addition, the exterior light lenses and bulbs were replaced and the headlights were upgraded to Truck-Lite LED headlights. This well preserved J10’s body is in impeccable condition, with no known rust or rot and appears to have had no previous rust or rot repairs in the common areas. The body presents itself very well and highly original with minimal wear, nice depth and shine to the paint, clean trim and its original chrome wagon wheels.
The original vinyl bench and door cards appear to have been recovered under previous ownership and the truck retains its original dashboard and molded vinyl floor cover. The current owner added a custom Carhartt dash cover, custom Jeep branded floormats, custom light walnut shift knobs, a wireless Sonos Roam Bluetooth speaker mounted on a Spartan Mount, replacement plastic glove box and an interior glovebox mounted dual port USB charger. In addition, the current owner reupholstered the headliner in gray suede with plaid cloth visors and gray vinyl lower kick panels. The seatbelts were replaced and a gray stitched leather steering wheel wrap was added. The interior also presents very well and highly original with minimal wear and the addition of a few modern comforts.
There are no known mechanical flaws, as the truck runs, drives, rides, shifts, steers and stops well. The known exterior imperfections are normal wear and tear, a few minor chips and surface scratches in the paint, a few minor chips in the windshield and minor surface corrosion on the underside and original chrome wheels, all pictured in the gallery. The known interior imperfections are normal wear and tear, minor cracking in the original vinyl floor by the gas pedal, covered by the custom Jeep floormats, and three cracks on the top of the dash, covered by the custom Carhartt dash cover, all pictured in the gallery. The gauges are functional, but the gas gauge reads off by a half a tank and the oil pressure gauge is intermittent. It has a clean and cleartitle in the current owner’s name, clean CarFax report and comes with two sets of keys.
