This CJ7 is mechanically sound — road ready to enjoy your weekend getaways, cruising around on vacation or your daily commute to work and I have recently put ($4K+) new wheels on it. The tires have less than 1k miles on them...
I’m the 3rd owner of this Jeep — it shows up as 5 Owners when you have a title check run on it but the first owner transferred it after paying it off but was still the same owner and Ducks Unlimited had it registered as an Auction Auto for their benefit when it was purchased to Raffle off at the Bass Pro Shop expo thus the 5 owners and not the actual 3 owners. Original owner purchased it in 1984 and it was restored 28 years later in 2012 by Ducks Unlimited.
Second Owner won it in the Raffle and owned it for six years until I purchased it.
He used it strictly for fishing and drove it up and down the Seawall for six years. He pulled out the backseat and custom-made the one that is in there now (see pics) thus the fishing pole holders in the rear made on the sides and back of the seat.
The body does have rust on it but more on the front floorboards and sides toward the front. The salt from the ocean caused rust on the body.
It doesn’t diminish it in anyway other than I wanted to take it to it’s limit... as you will see if you do a VIN/Title check on it today. This Jeep has a score somewhere between 40-60 give or take a few numbers based on the make, model, condition and if it has ever been in a wreck or any mechanical issues, etc... on the 1984 AMC JEEP CJ7’s that are out there today — this Jeep is rated at the highest possible coming in at a 60...
I had planned on exchanging the body out next summer - 2k brand new (primed not painted) delivered to my door from Quadratec. I recently found 2 used ones for $500 and $700 but I had no where to put it with the move. It is not necessary to change it out but I was getting ready to take this Jeep to new heights next year.
I bought it because I had one years ago that I had done the same thing as I had planned on doing with this one but I was an idiot and sold it for $35k after getting multiple offers on it. I move a lot because I am in the USN and I regret selling it and regret selling this one I’m pretty sure about it.
If your a CJ enthusiast and know about these Jeep’s and their value and the joys that you have in being an owner one — you are excited to see this post right now and will definitely be the next proud owner of this baby.
The front lights were changed out last week and the condensation you see in the front right headlamp is no longer there. I changed the entire headlamp assembly kit for both sides (seals, spring assembly housing kit, stainless steel bevels, hardware, etc...).
