1991 Jeep Wrangler Islander Additional Info:
NOTE: This very unique OEM Jeep color appears a bit more greenish / turquoise in reality than it does in the pictures - hint: it looks even better!
This the BEST Wrangler YJ - COMBINATION you could ever get: 1991 model year means "pre-ugly" (CJ-style) roll-bar, but already has torquey, strong, and reliable DIRECT-INJECTED 4.0 straight-six engine!Plus the coolest Jeep OEM-color ever, with the iconic Islander-package! This is one Jeep that you don't come across every day.
The Jeep is very solid and has only very little rust, all surface, and only one rust-hole which is in the floor left behind the driver seat - see the two corresponding pictures (one from the top with lifted carpet, one taken from below). On the body, the few affected areas were all treated with Rust-Dissolver, and sealed with rust-inhibiting Primer.
I literally pulled this beauty from a barn in NC, it is in great original / survivor-condition, as a thorough clean-up revealed. The OEM jack and tire-wrench still sitting in the factory location in the engine-bay was a good indicator!
Factory special options beside big engine include:- "Full Gauge Package" (ALL work. Speedometer misreads due to big tires)- 20 gallon fuel tank- Soundbar- Vinyl seats with diagonal "Jeep" imprint
Modifications over stock:- Skyjacker Nitro 8000 shocks- 3-4" suspension lift springs (presumably Skyjacker)- Dropped Panhard / track bar front and rear- 2" body lift- 33x12.5 spare tire on OEM rim- 35x12.5 Goodyear tires (good treat and hold air, but heavily dry-rotted, usable for storage or OFF-ROAD ONLY)- 4x Mickey Thompson Aluminum rims (some surface oxidation)- 4.56 differential-gears in front and rear axle (makes this Jeep really GO!!)- Xlerator muffler with perfect engine sound
List of known issues:- driver seat-backrest moves about 2 inches- typical engine rear-main seal leaks, however so little the oil-drops barely ever reach the ground- Brakes need inspected and possibly serviced (work ok, but feel spongy)
List of new parts in the last 12 months:- Partially reupholstered driver seat with OEM Jeep fabric- New seat-belts and receivers for front seats (because of new receiver without sensor, there's a "buckle-up" warning light coming up; original receiver with sensor is included and will be stored in glove box)- New full carpet- New taillights- New hood-hooks (not shown in pictures yet)- New paint (OEM paint code) on all outside surfaces- New decals original OEM style- New windshield-frame- New windshield and gasket- New windshield wipersAdditionally, brand new tune-up with NEW:- oil filter- fuel filter- air intake filter- engine oil- distributor cap and finger- spark plug wires- spark plugs
All fluid levels recently checked OK, including transmission, transfer case, and differentials front rear.Apart from tires and (spongy) brakes, I would not hesitate to drive this beauty across the country.
Reason for "Rebuilt"-title status is unknown to me, Jeep had a CLEAR title when registered beforehand in North Carolina. If not a DMV mistake, then title status possibly due to Theft, as vehicle appears very straight.
