1981 Jeep CJ Additional Info:
Up for auction is my 1981 Jeep Scrambler CJ-8. I bought this jeep in all original condition in 2005 and had a professional body-on restoration completed in 2008. The restoration included sanding the whole body down including the inside of the tub, giving it fresh primer, and a new paint job to give it a look as though it is straight out of an adventure movie. The entire interior was then rhino-lined to protect it and give it a rugged non-slip texture. Many exterior parts were replaced, including the: tow hooks, rear rounded bumpers, hood tie downs and loops, hood clamps, seat belts, etc. The jeep has been garage kept for the past 13 years and never driven in the rain or in-climate weather since the restoration. It’s my vintage-plated weekend cruiser that I sometimes take to shows and parades etc. I'm selling it because we are consolidating/downsizing.
The low-mile-engine is the original four cylinder paired with a four-speed manual - very fun to drive. I’ve had to replace a few parts over the years...the slave cylinder, master cylinder, some brake work, etc comes to mind. I regularly have it serviced by a mechanic and the jeep has proven to be very reliable. The only aftermarket mod I've made is replacing the headunit with a retro-style AM/FM/MP3 Auxiliary capable unit, and replaced the speakers with marine grade units.
The jeep includes:
+ Original half-hard top painted white with matching bulkhead (pics coming soon).+ Original full steel doors with glass windows.+ New Old Stock wooden side boards for the bed. Amazing condition!+ Bestop vinyl black bikini top with matching windjammer.+ Original vinyl soft doors that match the bikini top and windjammer.+ Custom linen/cotton bikini top with khaki web straps - suits the adventure ready look.+ Professionally welded anchor points in roll bar for 3-pt seatbelt harness.+ Cragar Nomad white steel wheels.+ Vintage adventure gear: custom luggage label magnets, wooden cargo chest, 1940’s Finnish army shovel, camel color waxed canvas tarp, and a vintage Jeep Sahara Edition spare tire cover.
The jeep is 37 years old, and while garage kept and well cared for has a few cosmetic blemishes. At this time I have the horn disconnected due to a connection issue, the fuel gauge is stuck, and interior gauge lights remain unlit. I’m going to take a look at the fuses when I have a chance as I’m guessing that’s the cause of the later issue. Overall I’d say it’s in the right condition to show proudly, drive and enjoy. It gets attention wherever it goes and lots of thumbs up and waves!
I am open to shipping this jeep anywhere in the world at the buyer's expense. The last collectible vehicle that I sold went to a gentleman in the UK...so International bidders are welcome!
