I have owned this Jeep since 1984 and it's had a couple of restorations since. Thetub has been off the frame, sand blasted and epoxy primed upside down and right side up. It has a Bestop canvas top and matching custom military style seat cushions. Storage under rear seat and seat belts front and rear. In frame poly 15 gal gas tank with skid shield. Electric wipers. Under dash cigarette lighter style power supply. Complete replacement OEM type wiring harness with turn signals. Front diamond plate floor to support roll frame.
It has a custom front bumper supporting a 12K# winch and a heavy duty custom tow bar. The steering is a Saginaw conversion with heavy duty tie rods and a long arm knuckle (feels like power steering). New steering wheel.
The engine is a remanufactured '69Chevy 153 with roller rocker arms and a Mercury Marine valve cover to accommodate. It has a rebuilt 60s Chevy pickup truck carburetor with oil bath air cleaner, excellent for dirt running. Converted to GM alternator. Exhaust is a custom Clifford header coupled to an open muffler. Oversize radiator looks a bit ratty but works great, never overheats.
Front axel is Dana 27 and rear is Dana 44 limited slip, both fitted with rebuilt 10" brakes. All Jeep vintage. Transmission is the factory option T-98 (granny low)with Dana 18 transfer case. Heavy duty replacement rear drive shaft. Tires are 9:50 x 33 on late model CJ 15" rims. Excellent trail size tires and would suggest replacing with same "just right" size.
Custom spare tire, gas can, farm jack rack; all included. Fitted to allow use of the genuine Willys tailgate. Trailer hitch with 4 wire connector.
This Jeep can hunt. It's retrieved deer, elk and all manner of game birds. It goes where the 4 wheeler ATVs go. It taught my sons not only how to drive but how to four wheel drive. Time to pass it on to another mentor, hopefully someone who understands and enjoys old Jeeps knowing you have to keep working on them to keep them up and running right.
