1976 Jeep CJ-5. Custom frame-off build, not a restoration.
First, I need to say, I did not build this jeep. I wish I had that kind of skill. Therefore, I do not have any specific build specs. The person I purchased it from a couple years ago bought it from a custom shop in California and provided no details on the build. This is not a Renegade. I know that, you know that, but it is much better than a stock Renegade. I added the 73 decals because it was plain white when I got it and it needed something. Plus, in my opinion, the 73 Renegade was the best looking Jeep ever built.
Basic specs.
Chevy high performance 350 V-8 with a Turbo 350 Auto Trans, Edelbrock manifold, Rochester 4-Barrel Carb, Custom Billet Air Cleaner, Aluminum Radiator, Electric Fan, Doug's Headers, custom rear exit, 3" Flowmaster exhaust, oversized gas tank and much more. It has a Skyjacker 3" Lift, Warn 8274 Winch, M/T Wheels, 32" BFG A/Ts, very nice Custom Blue Interior, Tuffy Storage Drawer under rear seat and Tuffy Locking Center Console. This is a solid 100% rust free jeep. Like I said, it was a full frame off, painted correctly build. No funds spared. Only the best parts were used, the pictures show most items. This is what a Jeep should be, 4 wheels, a frame, body, seats and a bunch of HP.
This is a very well built/sorted jeep. Well over 350 HP. It drives straight down the road at 80 without any problem. Scary, with the short wheel base, but no issues. I've spent the past couple years working out a few bugs and everything is good now. This was built as a show/go Jeep but both the previous owner and I used it as a weekend cruiser. It is just too well built to be a Garage Queen. It is very clean. You could eat off most parts of this jeep.
Only reason I'm selling this Jeep is because I have two other jeeps and just ordered a 4X4 Sprinter, so I need both space and cash for the Sprinter build. I was told the engine/transmission alone cost was well over $12K. I don't doubt it. The Odometer shows 52,000 original miles, which means nothing because nothing mechanical on it is original. It has about 5,000 post build miles, so the bugs are all gone. The frame, and all bodywork are all excellent.
Jeep comes with Bikini Top and Mesh Sun Top only. I have lots of pictures if you want to see a specific part.
I know, you can buy a CJ5 for $3,500. This is not a $3,500 CJ. This is a very well sorted, reliable, fire breathing monster that sets off car alarms when it drives by. Not super loud just sounds really good with a perfectly pitched rumble.
It's a blast to drive.
This could easily be turned back into a show Jeep if that is what you are looking for. A few hours of detailing, mainly the undercarriage parts and you would have the Queen back.
I would prefer local cash payment and pickup but I will ship. All shipping costs and arrangements are the buyer's responsibility. The jeep will not leave my garage until I have the cash in hand. What ever method payment you choose will be converted into cash before it leaves. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required by winning bidder within 24 hrs of close of auction, via Paypal. Full payment due within 7 days. I can hold jeep for you, for up to 10 days, to arrange for pick-up or transport.
The registration and inspection are current and the Blue Title is in my safe.
Note:
Don't ask what kind of mileage it gets. It's not that kind of jeep. It's a fun jeep not an economical jeep.
