1987 Jeep Wrangler Additional Info:
If you're looking for a solid YJ era Wrangler you'll want to take a look at this well taken care of survivor. I have owned this for a few months and it has been an absolute pleasure to use as a daily driver. The previous owners were a father and son team who built it over the years as somewhat of a family project. The story goes that the father, who is an electrical engineer by trade, removed the engine and transmission with the help of a group of other engineer friends to rebuild and bore the engine as well as go through a number of transmissions until they found the one that shifted the way the dad preferred. The 4.2 currently has only 18,000 miles on it and has had the sought after Weber carb installed which is an expensive add on but makes a huge difference in reliability and off roading. The detail oriented team also added on a heavy duty kill switch next to the battery and other upgrades such as a bulletproof 4x4 locker switch of some sort internally. The body itself is in great shape as is the frame front to back. As seen in the pics there is a hard top but also a bikini style soft top that you are able to keep on while the hard top is above it. The hard doors are solid and are equipped with the small vent windows. The CD/stereo system installed is surprisingly clear and plenty loud as well. Other upgrades include multiple stainless trim pieces and a super sturdy rear bumper and receiver set up that I have used to tow a number of times already with no issue. The 31" rim and tire package gives a bit of a custom look, has plenty of tread without going overboard and still allows you to make use of the fifth gear which is often lost in Jeep's over time. Also as seen in the pics there are off road lights added, brand new Quadratec side bars to be put on and the most extensive set of Jeep manuals and diagram books/literature I've ever seen in one place. Most likely the result of the group of engineers on the build team, very nice to have! In the time that I have owned it I have replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, ignition switch, ignition module and coil resulting it one of the best overall rides I've experienced in the 8 different Jeep's I've owned.
This really is a Jeep that needs to be seen and driven. Feel free to call/text/email with any questions. 603.952.7120. I have opted to put it up on Ebay as everyone that rides/drives/checks it out is so thoroughly impressed for its year. Again, while note perfect perfect it's damn close so wether you want to jump in ASAP and get enjoying or take a Jeep to percectville from here you have an awesome starting point for either. Reserve is set at $4,000 and will gladly drive it till next summer if someone doesn't see such obvious potential. Good luck and remember I'm glad to talk and or send more pics.
