I am selling my 1969 Jeep CJ5. I will try to do this Jeep justice and describe it in detail. This Jeep started its life in Visalia California as a mosquito abatement vehicle where is served most of its life. It was hit in the left side tailgate while parked, and while the damage was very minimal, the insurance decided to total it due to its age vs. repair cost. That is why it has a salvage title. I included pictures of the tailgate damage. I am including a new tailgate in this auction, but I love the original gate and never installed it.The Jeep sat in dry storage for 13 years and was purchased by a local man and his son at auction, as a father and son project. The project was never finished, and I purchased it. I first doubted the 73,000 mile claim, but as I began to bring it back to life, I found the miles to be true. I have spent over a year working on this Jeep, and loved every minute of it. I am a 62 year old mechanic / service manager, and Jeeps are my passion. The older the better. I will try to cover everything that I did, but I am sure I will forget something. I would also like to mention that I have all receipts to go with this Jeep, a factory tow bar and new cover.
Complete tune up and oil change. Remove fuel tank, and clean entire fuel system and rebuild carburetor. New upholstery (500.00). All new brakes and wheel cylinders. Brand new Goodyear Wrangler tires and powder coated wheels. All new exhaust from the head pipe to the tailpipe. I Installed a Delco 1 wire alternator and a new battery, and repaired or replaced all wiring. Removed instrument cluster and replaced the fuel gauge and temp gauge. Also replaced fuel sender. All lights and gauges work, including wipers, heater, back up lights, and instrument lights. I also replaced the oil pan gasket and made sure there were absolutely no oil leaks. All fluids were checked, and the radiator was rebuilt, and the water pump replaced. I did so much work on this Jeep, that I forget some of what I did. I can tell you that I have driven it about 200 test miles and it runs like a sewing machine. The 4 wheel drive works perfectly also. Also need to mention that it still has the PTO driven shaft and pulley that was installed by the mosquito abatement district to run the pump. I also have rubber mats custom cut for both floor boards and the rear. This jeep is rust free, except for two places. One is where it was hit, the floor has a small rust area, and the left side where the cross member has rubbedthe body tub. Both very minor, and I included them in the pictures. The Jeep is currently registered, and the tags are new, good until November 2017. If you would like to ask me any questions, my name is Kyle, and my number is 559-804-7163. Thanks for looking.
