1984 Jeep CJ Additional Info:
The original owner of this vehicle was my Grandpa. He was legally blind (but could still see)and unable to operate a vehicle on the highway so instead he did his driving in the Scrambler on his ranch and vineyard in Healdsburg California. He put approximately 7,600 miles on it between 1984 and 1997 with out taking it on the highway. I purchased it from him in 1997and have owned it ever since. I used it as mydaily driver until right around 2003. from 2003 to present it has been used recreationally. Due to relocation for work, lack of time and a need for cash it is now for sale. All upgrades to drivetrain or modifications you will read about below have all been professionally installed. My main goal was to compliment original design with modern technology to increase function on and off road while maintaining the classic style as much as possible.. The vehicle handlesgreat on the highway and is more than capable on the toughest of trails.
Only 67,000 original miles, locking front and rear differentials (ARB in front Detroit in rear) on board air compressor, Advanced Adapters Twin Stick clocked transfer case with Lo-Max 4 to 1 gear reduction kit. M.O.R.E Shackle reversal kit, Warn premium hubs in front and Warn full floating rear axle. Bullet proof High Steer Upgrade as well. Sits on Alcan springs and 33x12.5 BFG's. Engine runs great. Original 8,000 pound Warn winch. Also comes with original fiberglass top. All upgrades professionally installed
Many of the photos were takenspecifically to focus on rust spots and theworst looking areas trying to highlight exactly what is there and the fact that while it is over 30 years old it is amazingly clean. The rust in all locations here is very light, on the surface and could be removed with sand paper by hand. It is mainly found where the paint wore thin form general wear (note the driver side floor board below the pedals) the paint wore thin from my feet on floor, that is probably the worst spot, no nasty stuff. The spot on the floor by the Twin Stick shifter had to bemodified a bit to make room for the sticks and the fact that the transfer case has been clocked to increase ground clearance while maintaining a low center of gravity.A little bit of tlc to cover that up should be fairly simple
Here is a list of all itemsthat are a work in progress:
1) My brother over heated the motor on the winch in a snow storm many years ago. I replaced the motor and had the shop swap it out but now we think it needs a solenoid pack or maybe just new plugs. It is an awesome winch and worth the effort to troubleshoot. At the time I did the motor swap on the winch I was also having them install the Advanced Adapters Twin Stick kit, the Lo-Max 4 to 1 gear reduction in the transfer case, the M.O.R.E Shackle reversal kit, the Alcan springs and adjust all of the other fun things that come with doing that stuff. By the time we got to the winch I didn't have enough money left to finish it so it got put on the back burner. This was all in 2011.
2) The top is the original half cab and is in good shape. I started a project to make it seal super tight and actually be 100% waterproof a couple years ago and while I did improve alot of it, the final step was to replace the gasket around the rear window. I never completed that part so the rear window is currently not in the top but I have the window in my garage. It just needs a new gasket and to be popped back in.My plan was to upgrade the rear window to a slider version that can be opened while I was at it. The gasket and sliding window can be found at gr8tops.
3) I am not proud of the fact that I cut out a slot in the dash for a CD player when I was in high school but I did.
4) The tailgate is not original. My Grandpa backed it into a tree while it was down before I bought the Jeep from him.
5) I do not have the original center console or the carpet that came with it.
The shop that built it and installed all of the upgrades/mods is in Twin Falls where I live. It's called Advanced Suspension Design. They really know there stuff and would be a good resource for you in the process of researching prior to purchase. They know the Jeep inside and out. I have allinfo such as manuals for the upgrades they installed so you know exactly what is there.
I tried to include links to a few of the accessories or modifications that have been installed but they are not allowed on Ebay. if you would like to research them further google search the items listed below
