1971 Jeep CJ Additional Info:
For sale is avary rare 1971 Jeep Renegade II. One of 600 produced that year, and one of 200 painted Riverside Orange (paint code 999, trim code 340). The Jeep sat for years in the 2nd owners garage and is in as found condition with the exception of 5 new tires I had installed. This jeep was bought new in Southern California where it spent the first half of its life. It was brought to Colorado by its 2nd owner. It has what I believe to be adealer installed winch andWarn overdrive. It received some modifications for off road usesometime in the late 70s, and received a repaint in the original coloralso. The modifications are a track lock and power lock posi front and rear, disc brake conversion on the Dana 27 front axle, power steering conversion, a rancho lift,a stainless auxiliary fuel tank, and some high back buckets. All of these period correct mods are still on the jeep and functional. The jeep is a wheeling time capsule and was probably a pretty capable rig in the early 80's.
The current condition of the jeep is excellent. It is obvious the Jeep was loved, but used and enjoyed. The paint is showing its age with some chips here and there, but still shines nice. The body is verystraight, except for a few dings in the rockers. The jeep is completely rust free. Floors arein ridiculously nicecondition. It retains its original dash pad and pinstripe rear seat. There is no top for the Jeep. I have the original top bows, door frames and hardware but no skin. I do have the original sun visors for the vehicle.
The V-6 starts and runs great, and the jeep drives good but some things need to be addressed. The fuel switch for the auxiliary tank does not work, and the wipers are not working. The clutch works great, but is very stiff so it may need a clutch cable. The speedometer is not working so I do not know how many miles it actually has. The power steering works great, but takes some getting used to because it has little to no return to center. All the fluids have been changed (oil, trans, diffs, transfer).
In and of itself a very nice jeep, but it is also rare and has somevery cool vintagemods. It actually has a dash plaque from a 1981 Jeep Jamboree.
