Introduced in 1961, the E-Type roadster proved to be an immediate success. Designed under the guidance of Sir William Lyons, the car was a longer and lower version of Jaguar's D-Type. Manufactured between 1961 and 1975, its combination of good looks, high performance, and competitive pricing established the marquee as an icon of 1960s motoring.
Early Series I E-Types are among the most admired models Jaguar ever produced, and this complete numbers matching example is no exception. Built June 6, 1962, 877473 was dispatched through Jaguar Cars, New York on the 21st of June, selling new to MJ & DJ Folstein, as verified by the Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, wearing Opalescent Silver Grey paint over Red hides and French Grey top. Equipment includes manual transmission, classic spear seats, aluminum console, toggle switches, period radio, chrome wire wheels and the closed headlights most indicative of early XKEs.
In the early 2000's it is reported in the Jaguar XK registry that this car underwent a 3 year restoration with over $70,000 spent. The restoration has held up well and although no longer a Concours example this beautiful roadster still shows well as a driver/local show car. The paint is overall nice but shows light orange peel age. The interior shows nice and proper as well. With a recent tune-up the E-type is the ideal turnkey example for someone looking for immediate enjoyment. Wearing correct original colors as it left the factory; the car's strong numbers-matching mechanicals are reliable and with lots of pep, tight shifting and steering. It comes complete with matching boot cover for top down enjoyment, jack in pouch, spare assembly, owner's manual, lubrication chart, technical booklet and several service/repair publications. Overall a nicely presented car, this Roadster possesses the thrilling presence inherent in Jaguar's E-Type as a desirable icon for collector car enthusiasts. Attractively priced this beautiful example is now available for inspection, worldwide purchase and delivery.
