1964 Jaguar XKE Additional Info:

This1964Jaguar XKE (E-type) Roaster Series 1 in British racing greenis one of our favorite years of this model as it has the most desirable cosmetic features of the early cars such as the iconic covered headlights and toggle switch dashboard, alongwith the more powerful and reliable 4.2L motor, desirable triple SU carburetor set up,and full synchromesh 4-speed manual transmission
This car is a very nice driver quality example, with proven recent mileage and trips up the coast completedoverthe past year. The car is an absolute pleasure to drive. The carruns and drives very nicely and it has been well maintained. The engine runs very strong and doesn’t not produce any smoke. The cooling system has been serviced and works nicely even in LA traffic. The one bad item is the clutch is showing significant wear (starting to slip on takeoff) and will need addressed. The clutch hydraulics are good, but the plates are worn. The engine does leak oil, small puddle after a long run, but very manageable maybe add a quart every 500 miles (This could be addressed with gasket repairs during the clutch service). The transmission shifts perfectly with good synchros in all gears. The handling, suspension and braking are very good. All electrical, lights, and gauges are working. The car has a new battery and alternator. The exhaust system is newer and good condition. The tires tread is good and soft.
Structurally the car is a solid California car with no rust, or signs of previous rust or accident repairs. The body is very straight and gaps are good. The paint is average driver quality. The engine is period correct, but it’s not believed to be numbers matching, as a previous owner mentioned it was a 1968 model year block that could have been swapped during a previous restoration, although no work has beendone to validate this.
The black vinyl interior is older but still in good condition and complete with no missing trim pieces or knobs. The convertible top works properly with no rips, but it is not water tight (newseals included). The seats are solid and supportive with normal wear to the foam from age. The radio and speakers are upgraded with a modern Bluetooth connection. The windshield wipers are present butdo not work. The car will come with extra keys, lots of literature and service history, repair manuals, spare parts and other odds and end in boxes.In-person visits are encouraged and pre-purchase inspections can be arranged.
