1971 Jaguar XJ Additional Info:

This 1971 Jaguar XJ6 was acquired by its current owner in 1998 then, restored over the following two years. A carbureted ford 302 cubic inch V8 engine was installed with a matching Ford 3 speed transmission. The engine’s short and long block were machined and completely rebuilt. The transmission was also completely overhauled. An MSD electronic ignition was added along with headers, and a progressive 4-barrel Edelbrock carburetor. A new custom dual exhaust system flows through two flow master mufflers. The paint was stripped to metal then repainted with PPG paint in a Mistral Blue which was a stock Jaguar color in the year 2000. A vintage air heating and air conditioner system was added. The upholstery was completely replaced including new custom headliner, seat coverings, carpet, and seat belts. The suspension and brake system were overhauled. New VDO gauges with electronic speedometer replaced the original jaguar gauges. A shroud was built for the mechanical fan on the engine providing more than adequate cooling even in 100+ degree temperatures. All rubber seals on the doors and windows were replaced and there no sign of drips inside the windows on a rainy day. A clarion stereo was added with two 6x9’s in the back, two 5” round speakers in the front doors, and a 6-disc cd changer in the trunk.

The XJ6 was completed around 2001 and subsequently had the kinks worked out over the 17,500 miles it was driven after restoration. The car has been kept garaged in dry West Texas for its new life after restoration and shows no signs of weathering or structural rust. There is a dent in the top of the front driver’s side fender, but the paint was not broken. Additionally, a small crack in the paint has formed where the exterior drivers side handle attaches to the door. Two fuel tanks with electric pumps saddle the trunk and can be switched from left to right on the dash. Both fuel tanks and sending units were replaced in 2024 A new battery was installed, oil changed, and brakes bled. Everything on the car (power windows, lighting, air conditioning, ect.) works properly. A spare wheel and tire are included in the sale. Most of the documents and receipts since restoration are available and will be passed along to the new owner. This 1971 XJ6 was the owner’s baby for some years until tragedy struck in 2010 and the car was parked. Unfortunately, it’s not driven often enough to keep around; so, it’s time to pass this beautiful smooth driving piece of history along to a new owner. I will do my best to answer and questions and thanks for your interest.
