1957 Jaguar XK MC OTS Additional Info:
1957 Jaguar XK140 MC OTS A true car enthusiast can tell you that from behind the wheel, there is nothing like a well-sorted English sports car. Starting with stunning designs which are then paired to capable chassis and engines with copious low-down torque, an English roadster is a magical car to drive. And one of the best of this genre is the Jaguar XK140- built as a followup to the legendary XK120, the XK140 featured numerous updates over the previous car that made it better to drive and easier to use than its predecessor. Thanks to a modified interior layout, the XK140 was more spacious inside than the XK120, and upgrades to the suspension and steering meant that it is far more capable on the road. This XK140 MC was produced in 1957 and is what is known as an Open Two Seater (OTS) thanks to its lightweight disappearing convertible top and removable side curtain windows. Finished in Striking black over a Biscuit Leather interior, this car was the subject of a concours quality restoration by marque specialists XKs Unlimited in San Luis Obispo, CA, and is equipped with numerous subtle upgrades and receipts show work totaling over $100,000. The "MC" is the high-performance variant of the XK140 which was known as the "SE" in the UK and is equipped with dual exhaust, and a famed "C-Type" cylinder head which increases power from 190 in the standard car, to over 210 on the MC. Prior to the car's restoration in the early 2010s, this XK140 had been with the same owner in Southern California since 1969 and proved an excellent starting point for the job at hand. During the restoration, every piece of the car was handled by true professionals, including a full engine rebuild where the block was Magnafluxed to check for any stress cracking prior to being acid dipped. Although you can't tell from the outside, this XK140 is equipped with a number of very desirable upgrades like front Wilwood disc brakes, a full synchro 5-speed manual gearbox and alloy radiator, flywheel, and fuel tank. All of these modifications don't drastically alter the classic driving experience you would hope for with an XK140 but make it more usable and enjoyable when on your favorite backroad. One of the most impressive parts of this XK140 is the gorgeous biscuit leather interior. The leather covers the seats, doors, and dash, while the Wilton Wool carpets look like they've been barely used. A 4-spoke wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel has been installed along with a matching wood shift knob and the burl wood dash panel has a deep, gloss finish that makes the grain of the wood look truly outstanding. Inside of this dash panel sits a suite of Smiths gauges that were completely restored by West Valley Instrument Specialists in Reseda, CA and both look great and operate as they should. What really separates the XK140 from its predecessor the XK120 is the extra interior room and the leg room under the dashboard in particular, making it far more comfortable to sit in and drive. If you are someone who wants to collect only the best of the best, this XK140 MC is the right car to put in your garage. Thanks to the careful and costly restoration, this car will be just as capable on a Jaguar Club drive as it would be on the show field and saves you from having to deal with the time-consuming and costly restoration process. Offered in a stunning color combination, if you want to experience the epitome of classic British motoring, look no further.
