1967 Jaguar E-Type Additional Info:
1967 Jaguar E-Type 2+2 chassis and four speed, powered by a 1971 XKE Series II recently rebuilt engine. Builder of this car was a British car enthusiast and craftsmen that specialized in 3-wheel Morgan restoration as well as Jaguar E-Types and later 4-wheel Morgans. If you were a Morgan collector or enthusiast from the '70s through half first decade of this century, you knew him. A tribute was featured in 'The Morgazette' publication in 2006 acknowledging the talents and contributions of this car's builder that could be easily sourced and verified entitled, "Bigger Than Life." After restoring and owning numerous XKE's, the builder was left with enough parts for the basis of this car that had previously only lived in his mind. The floor pan from firewall past rear axle of the Series 1 E-Type was used with a custom fabricated rectangular steel frame incorporated up to and including the firewall then replacing the bottom rail of original subframe, narrowed to fit the width of its new cowl. So, full custom rectangular steel frame from bumper to bumper. All above floor pan was then, as per Morgan, built from an ash wood frame then skinned/fit with custom sheet metal. All four fenders were custom formed and rolled from metal. Only fiberglass on the car is the removable top rear tonneau cover that was fabricated years later. The car has been stored since the builder's passing in the same climatized work area for almost 20 years. He had finished the car right down to completing all wiring, all lights worked, and the car was test driven and everything checked. Shortly before his death in 2006, it was disassembled for final paint and never fully put back together. The car was to resemble a Jaguar SS100 complete with the suicide doors and dual cowl. Dash panel made from walnut. Any variation to the original SS100 shape was done to accommodate the E type wheelbase and firewall position. Windshield is designed and fabricated to accept a single, straight piece of safety glass. Vehicle has no convertible top. All instrumentation is from a Series 1 E-type as well as parking brake, seats, telescopic steering wheel. In summation, a body to resemble an SS100 Jaguar was built off a Series 1 E type chassis with Series 11 engine, using the techniques of traditional Morgan body fabrication. Last photo is of an original 1938 Jaguar SS100, the first car to carry the fabled Jaguar name and top 100mph, and the inspiration for this one-off car.Beautiful hand-crafted workmanship. If carburetors rebuilt, fuel system cleaned, cam cover bolts and gaskets replaced, they were only removed for polishing, new battery installed, brake system checked from sitting, this car would start up and drive. A one-of-a-kind opportunity to own a unique automobile designed and constructed by a true Master Craftsmen. This vehicle is being offered to settle an Estate. Appreciate your consideration.
