With just over 54K miles on the clock this Jaguar was part of a Jaguar enthusiasts collection & was in the process of undergoing a complete mechanical rebuild of the car until such time that the owner passed leaving an unfinished project.
The engine had been removed from the car along with the gearbox, the interior center console & seats. It is my understanding that these components were left stored in the owner’s warehouse along with his other cars for many, many, years long after he passed. During this time people had access to the warehouse & the gearbox, seats & center console went missing along with some other bits. Given the condition of the interior I could only assume that the seats & console were in beautiful condition much like the rest of the interior in the car & hence their disappearance.
Apparently the block had a small crack in it (left side center just between frost plug 3 &4) & was professionally repaired using the ‘Cold Metal Stitching’ process...a very expensive method of repair.
The engine was placed back into the car along with the head, intake manifold & carbs to make for easy transportation. Alternator, radiator, clutch & other minor bits are missing...so what you see in the pics is what you get.
The EJag has never been restored in the past, no signs of accident damage or major rust through. The body panel fit is excellent...a testament to an accident free car. From my inspection it looks like the front suspension & brakes have undergone some rebuild work, the head was removed from the car & may have had some work done to it also along with the carbs.
The rear wheel arches of the car are showing signs of past metal work being done to them & are starting to bubble at the weld lines. The floor pans are the originals & are weak around the outside perimeter & at the toe boards. The areas under the seats are solid as shown in the pics. There are a few areas where the paint has peeled off on the bonnet but have been quickly primed & painted to prevent any further rusting of the metal. The driver’s side rocker panel just forward of the rear wheel arch show signs of being ‘crushed’ by someone not lifting the car in the appropriate location. The spare wheel well is in good solid condition & the trailing arm mounts are sound.
The glass is in good condition with no significant chips or scratches (appears to be the original glass).
The interior is clean, with the expected patina of a 50 year old car, all remaining interior panels & headliner are original to the car, all of the original gauges are there & intact.
During my ownership of the Jag, I started to purchase the missing pieces & was able to acquire the following: seat frames for a S2 (expensive), center console top & a new leather biscuit colored upholstery kit for the center console, these components go with the car & can be seen in the pics.
Also included in the sale are the original jack & pouch & the tool for removing the center wheel knock-offs.
The XKE had been sitting for about 20+ years in dry storage in the US & was purchased by a Canadian in 2006, at this time the Jag was imported to Canada to undergo a complete restoration. Unfortunately, the car was garaged, never touched & sat another 14 years.
Please note that this E-Type has a different looking Data/Builders plate, this is the original factory data plate & is located on the driver’s side of the car under the heater air box to the right of the battery. It has four numbers stamped in it all of which match the engine, gearbox, chassis etc. when compared to the Heritage Certificate. I spent considerable time researching this & it was confirmed through “The Jaguar Experience” & “Jaguar Heritage” that this data plate is correct for this year E-Type which was a US spec. car exported to the US. You can reference the article written in the Jaguar Experience Forum on this data plate (with pictures of the plate which match the one in this car) if you reference the following: RE. Different E-Type Data/Builders’ Plates, article dated May 30th 2014. If you cannot find the article I can send you a scanned copy.
This is an excellent opportunity to acquire an incredibly original & mostly complete example of one of histories most important & sought after sports cars at a very reasonable price.
Please feel free to ask as many questions as you like; more pictures are available beyond what the EBay auction shows.... they may be requested by sending me your personal email address.
I have tried to take pictures of all aspects of the car including the underside, however I don't have a hoist and took them lying underneath. If you want specific pics please feel free to ask, I will do my best to accommodate.
Pre-purchase inspections are to be done prior to bidding.
Pandemic - Please note: As confirmed by the shipping companies that I have used in the past...vehicles are being shipped to the United States & all other parts of the world during this time of Pandemic. It is business as usual!
I am willing to ship WORLDWIDE & will assist with shipping arrangements.
Note: For European Buyer’s, I can have this car shipped to any European destination for approx $1.5KUSD, this would put it at the closest port to your home destination
Given that I am located inCanada, someUSand offshore buyers maybe reluctant to purchase given the border crossing and or importation paperwork required to import the vehicle to their home destination… I can assist with providing the buyer with contact information to an international transportation company (specializing in relocating vintage & classic cars worldwide) that will safely and at a reasonable cost transport the vehicle. I have personally used this company several times and have been extremely pleased with the pick-up & delivery.
