1971 Jaguar E-Type Additional Info:
I bought this about a year ago. I have put 125 miles on it. I find it difficult to get into and am going to be having my hip replaced so I need to find the car another home. I'm into the car for more than my buy it now price. Below is all the information from the dealer that I purchased it from.
Beautifully documented ownership history complete with all restoration and maintenance records from new! Fully restored to include exterior paint, new leather seats, and completely overhauled engine & transmission! All professionally executed including the addition of factory triple SU carburetion! Outstanding performance and cold air conditioning! Loaded with the right options like 4-speed manual and power steering! Jaguar Heritage Certificate included! Very nice driver investment!
The XKE series Jaguar was an instant success from the moment it appeared at the automotive seen in 1961! Featuring monocoque construction, 4-wheel independent suspension & disc brakes, and rack & pinion steering. As each new generation was improved from the last, it continued to offer more and more to buyers as the prestigious luxury sports car from England! This included improved brakes, better suspension, superior interior comfort, more significant cooling, and bigger displacement engines! The Series II came about in 1968 with wrap around rear bumper, larger re-positioned turn signals & tail lights, larger grill opening with twin electric cooling fans for better cooling, open headlamps, redesigned toggle switches on the dash, as well as twin Strombergs replacing the triple SU’s under the hood. Air conditioning and power steering were factory options. Production on the Series II carried through to early 1971 with all models totaling 18,809 units. Of those, only 4,855 were Fixed Head Coupes making them the rarest to find for collectors today!
I am pleased to have this 1970 Jaguar XKE Coupe finished in factory code correct Dark Green over Suede Green Leather interior! it all original, number’s matching drivetrain featuring the 4.2L Inline 6 DOHC engine and 4-speed fully synchromesh manual transmission! Options include factory air conditioning, power steering, wood steering wheel, 72-spoke chrome wire spoke wheels wrapped in 185R15 radial redline tires, dual outside mirrors, rear defrost, upgraded Kenwood AM/FM/Cassette radio in stock location, and chrome exhaust tips!
Included with this beautiful Jaguar will be a complete history from new! It was built June 8th, 1970 and dispatched from England October 7th, 1970. Having sold new in May 1971 from Autosport Motors in Madison, MO to Clark & Corrine Greife, it remains titled today as a 1971 model year example today. The Greife’s retained ownership through April 1975 with their service and maintenance history clearly logged in the original Passport to Service Booklet by Jaguar service centers. Obviously driven on a regular basis, the second owners took possession with 41,672 miles through Kelley Pontiac, Inc. based in Columbia, MO. It would trade hands again in 1976 bringing this E-type Coupe to the St. Louis area, carefully maintained by only a few more owners, with the most recent having it for the past 17 years until I bought it last year and had it shipped to the valley. During that timeframe, this Jaguar was incrementally restored in a careful manner beginning with a bare metal repaint of the exterior by Jaguar specialist Garcia Restorations in April 2006, along with some minor re-chroming of select components, new power steering rack, and new interior seat foams & leather covers. The original engine & head were next with a complete overhaul by renowned service center Erwin Schwarz Ltd in June 2007 where is was fully balanced and blueprinted internally. The odometer reading at this time was 82,971 miles. Erwin Schwarz Ltd would also be selected in December 2010 to rebuild the original gearbox at 86,664 miles with all new synchro rings, cluster gear, all bearings, seals, etc. The clutch kit installed at 79,596 miles was retained. The entire air conditioning system was restored with new compressor, receiver drier, lines, seals, and blower motor in September 2011.
As the enjoyment of the splendid road going example was improved, power and performance would come next. Ordered direct from England, a full set of polished European SU Triple Carburetors with polished intake would be ordered and installed to increase horsepower and torque! This work was carried out by Erwin Schwarz along with the addition of Pertronix ignition! You will be hard pressed to find a better starting, running, and driving Jaguar! Brand new chrome wire wheels & redline tires were installed in 2013, and an upgraded aluminum radiator installed in 2015! All service records are included from new, along with original owner’s manual, service booklet, maintenance & lubrication chart, and Heritage Trust Certificate! This car was last shown in a JCNA event in October 2016 scoring 997.9 points in Driven Class. Don’t miss your chance to own such a special piece of motoring history!
Clean title in hand.
