1994 Jaguar XJS Additional Info:
I have owned this Jaguar XJS Convertible for 10 years. It has brought me a lot of joy and a lot of great compliments. I bought it from the dealer who had it turned in from the original owner. I have enjoyed it thoroughly and put less than 5,000 miles on it. This car is 25 years old and has been kept in a garage since I bought it. Even with the TLC and money I put into it, the car has some wear and tear. It is my intention to be open about everything that is wrong while also highlighting everything that makes this car so much fun.
Let's start with the good. The car is fun!. It runs solid and handles very well. It looks sharp, and one of its best traits is that every time I take it out I get comments like "Wow!", "What year?!", "Nice car!!", among other compliments. It is comfortable in the driver's seat and has seats in the back, even if small. The electric seats are functional as well as the heated seat mechanism. The trunk is in perfect shape and I have all the original tools and catalogs. I have copies of all the records which I have listed below. The interior is clean and the engine is solid. The convertible top goes up and down easily. I have the boot that covers the top when it is down. Dual ashtrays give it a James Bond feel. The ash trays have never been used and it is a nonsmoking car. Battery is brand new as of May 3rd 2019.
The challenges. The radio does not work. I have checked the fuse and that's not it. With technology as it is in 2019, I use a bluetooth speaker instead of messing with the integrity of the car and dashboard. The paint has some minor scratches but you have too look closely. They are epidermal and could easily be buffed out. There are a few small areas where there is white on the paint. It is very small and may have been from the previous owner not cleaning bird stains. The roof goes up and down fine but has several point of wear and tear. I always had it in the garage and it's a convertible so it is normally down. The seat on the driver's side has several tears. I have not looked at fixing it. The trunk shuts and stays shut. However, the lock is gone. It was like that when I bought it. I've never worried about it. The AC does not work. It could be just the freon. I never bothered checking because, you guessed it, it's a convertible. The fuel gauge does not work properly. I set the odometer to know when it's time to fill up. Three of the emblems on the Jaguar are there. One is missing.
