Up for auction is a “Barn Fresh” 1961 Jaguar Mk 2, 3.8. This particular car was owned by a Jaguar nut that once had 26 Jaguars! The owner past away 10+ years ago and everything went into a family trust. Most of the good cars were sold off except for the 4 door “orphan” sedans. The family was going to have them crushed and I made an offer to buy all 14 of them, haul them to my shop, loosely assemble them and sparkle them up. My intentions are to sell them as-is and not restore them unless someone wants it restored and I can do that at my shop www.catzauto.com. This particular car was purchased in 1998. The doors, frame, fenders, hood, boot are solid, as shown along with all the other sheet metal parts and everything fits very nicely. There are some minor rust spots that I have photographed which are mostly on the rear fender spats. The engine number matches the data plate. The engine seems all intact and turned over by hand but I did not try and start it. The oil inside was clean with no water and there was antifreeze in the block lower section so I do not think the block is cracked from freezing. The wood is salvageable and can be refinished as-is. The automatic transmission also has cruise control! This is a very straight salvageable unmolested Jaguar Mk 2 with the very desirable 3.8 engine that does not deserve to be crushed. I believe all parts are there with the exception of the air cleaner bottom pan for which there is 1 on EBay for $27.00. It is not too often that I find cars that haven’t been parted out or rusted away. It will make a nice project for someone as-is and being auctioned at no reserve. Found in the car is a complete photo book showing how the car was restored in 1977 and included a strip to bare metal paint job and engine rebuild with all receipts included in the sale. This car does not have a title and will be sold with a bill of sale from a registered dealer’s license from Ohio. This car has no warranty and no returns. We are able to assist in your transportation needs locally or on the other side of the world.
Cheers

Thank you bidders for starting the auction. The chase is now on and will sell to the highest bidder!
There have been many repetitive questions such as;
When was the last time it was on the road? Best I can tell from insurance cards was 1999. The car was sold in 2000 to the past owner who drove it brieflyand stored it in his collection where it sat.
What are the rustiest parts on the car body? The rear spats are the rustiest parts on the car body and I would suggest instead of repairing them just purchase new and they are roughly $200 per set or there are others on EBay for less. The outside of the lower part of the doors appear rusty in the photos but it is the paint flaking off of the primer and not rust holes. There is somerust perforation in the forward part of the lower rocker panels.
What are the missing parts? The base of the air cleaner is missing along with the rear window chrome moldings. Everything else appears to be there. Both of these parts are available new or used.
Did you have the car running? I did not attempt to start the car. Cars that have been sitting for long periods of time need the cylinders oiled, stale fuel replaced with fresh, distributor points cleaned and so on. It is better for the new owner to do that as most people do extensive damage trying to start a dry engine.
Thank you for your interest!CheersTom Z.
