1954 JAGUAR XK-120 SE ROADSTER: --Black with Oxblood Leather, Red carpeting, Black Canvas Top, 34,000 ORIGINAL MILES, 3.4 liter inline 6 cylinder engine, 4-Speed Moss gearbox, Jaguar Heritage Certificate, FIVA Passport. The XK-120 was available in an XK-120 SE version with high lift cams, special crankshaft damper, lightened flywheel, stiffer torsion bars & rear springs, dual exhaust system - this all made for an even more sporting version of the iconic post-war speedster which produced 180hp in SE trim. Jaguar ceased production... of the XK-120 in the summer of 1954 and the data plate of this XK indicates that this was one of the last five left-hand XK-120s built. This is a fantastically preserved example of the coveted SE model in original LHD, matching numbers and as verified by its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, USA delivered from new. Completed on August 26, 1954, this XK-120 was then dispatched and delivered to its first owner, R.R. Varner Jr. This XK-120 comes complete with its owners and service manuals, tools, side curtains and tonneau cover. It is indicated in the records and 1996 restoration photos that this is an original 34,000 mile example. Having been hopeful to use this XK-120 in last years famed Mille Miglia, the previous owner performed $30,000.00 in servicing, maintenance and upgrades to make what was an already exceptional mechanical and structural XK-120 as bullet proof as possible. This included: Full service throughout with all filters, fluids, spark plugs replaced, cooling system service, complete brake service, New 2” sand cast carbs to boost performance, new radiator, starter, batteries, ignition system service, reconditioning of the original wire wheels, fitting of new tires and more. All work has been documented. One of the most iconic sports cars of the 1950’s, this XK is in superb, well preserved condition throughout. Recently road tested, we can attest to this XK-120 being in superb and ready to use condition. It is tight and fast, but with a rare honesty, provenance and limited ownership history, rarely found. A wonderful addition for any collector and capable of being driven on some of the world’s most prestigious vintage road rallies or simply enjoyed for weekend touring pleasure.
