1967 Jaguar 340 WIRE WHEELS Additional Info:
This is a rare, one of 535 left hand drive 340 made. "barnfind" condition. Nothing has been messed with. This was imported from Italy by an ex military man in the early eighties. Paperwork with the car supports this.It is a euro model with KPH speedo. It has 123000 km which is around 76K miles. The owner died around 8 years ago and the car was parked and later sold at an estate sale to the gentleman I got the car from.It is from Arizona and has been exposed to the elements for a little while but has remarkably held up.Most of the rust issues more than likely occurred in Italy. However, the rust is all cosmetic and non-structural being limited to the doors and two rear wheel splash areas - the other two are solid. It may have older repairs as the car has been painted at one time. The frame and floor pan are solid including the common jacking points. No holes. The underside is covered with Arizona desert dust but I poked around with a screw driver and all was solid behind what might be undercoating. Areas where this layer has fallen off is clean metal. Most 340 had steel wheels, this has the spoked knock-offs.The spare in intact but there is only a jack, no tool kit.The car is missing some trim but otherwise seems 98% complete. The trunk pan is solid. Most seals are dry roted and I'd imagine bushings and other rubber are dry rotted. The seats present well enough with splits in the leather seat but thevinylsurrounds have held up well.Headliner intact. The wood has lost most of it's varnish but is straight and solid. The radio and speaker grill is missing. There are no keys. The engine turns over and the manual transission goes through the gears. This has Overdrive. The battery tray has no rust or rot.The engine compartment has not been messed with - everything as-is should be, nothing appears broken, missing, or molested. The S type bumpers look much sportier and delicate than the MK2 heavy bumpers. The car is a roller with no brakes - keep in mind when arranging shipping. Fortunately goes in gear which keeps it from moving. It has low profile tires that should be replaced with proper size. The exhaust system looks new. Most chrome dull/peppered but not rusty. No service records. Clean Arizona title signed by title service and notarized. Price and buyer signature is open. No funny business. Also included is owners exportation papers showing it exported from Rome and perhaps spent time in Pisa.
It's a project but worthy of taking on. All sales are final and I encourage you to ask questions. However, I can't answer the health of anything mechanical.I have had a MK2 in the past along with 4 e-types and these engines are hardy and pretty straight forward and sound great when running. XKS unlimited has most parts but there are many other sources out there including right here on Ebay.
Parts alone worth more than buy it now.
I may consider trade for collectible vintage motorycles but you need to approach me prior to bidding. Otherwise this auction will run it's course.
The car is located at a convenient place for semi trucks and car carriers. I suggest trying U-bid website where people bid on your shipment and you get competative bids.
