1985 xj6 with only 44K miles owned by a Jaguar Club member. Over $14,200 on maintenance spent over the last 22 months. New water pump, belts and hoses, tune up, front wheel bearings, breaks & disks including the rear inboard breaks and disks, new headliner, new SS exhust system, new tires and much much more. Exceptional ride and interior. The leather is in great shape and the wood overall for its age is in good condition with some small cracks near the right side air vent. Overall the wood is much better than what I see on Ebay for other series 3 cars. The paint, well it is 31 year old jaguar paint. The paint needs attention on the hood, please see the hood picture. It looks like the clear coat is the issue. The body shop suggested wet sanding the hood, a hood repaint would not be costly. No rust on this car except one small (less then finger nail) spot on driver's side windscreen area. The window corners are major rust areas on most series 3 cars.
This car is in Atlanta I drive this car daily during the weekdays and it never misses a beat. Totally reliable. I drove the car to Sarasota and back - cruised at 80 all the way! Everything works and the car is very smooth and comfortable. I have had GA and FL plates on this car during the last 16 months - same owner saved sales tax. The car has a power steering fluid leak that I have not had a chance to have fixed and will need it's annual oil change. From what I can tell the car does not leak oil ever at the rear main. The AC blows cold. At times only one channel works on the original stereo however I don't use it very often. I have two series 3's one is a 1987 with less than 30K miles and this one actually drives and rides a little better.
If you are interested I would be happy to scan and send a copy of the work supporting the $14,200. Remember mechanically very strong, the interior is very good with great leather, however 31 year old jaguar paint and a power steering fluid leak. that's everything I know and i am sure I have disclosed more than some would have. With the exception of the hood the paint looks fine from a few feet away. I have 4 older jags and three other cars and storage is getting very expensive so I am selling the car for that reason only.
