1968 Jaguar E-Type Roadster Additional Info:

This car came off the line November 20, 1967 and was labeled a 1968 model. Every jaguar seems to be unique, but to our knowledge, every aspect of this car is as it was originally. Outfitted in its original colors of opalescent silver blue with a dark blue interior and black convertible top, this 1968 open two seater looks fast even while sitting in the driveway. This jaguar convertible has the 4.2 liter engine with the ribbed appearance, double carburetors and a fully synchronized manual transmission. It also has open headlights without covers, rocker switches and twin electric fans. This jag has triple wipers and tail lights above the bumper line in the rear deck. The parking lights are above the front bumper line. The wire wheels are held in place by eared hubs, not the hexagons. The spare tire is mounted on the original wire wheel, and it comes with the original hammer, knockoff ring, and jack in the trunk.
The Michelin red line tires hold air; oil is visible in the motor. The paint looks surprisingly good but up close a few scratches and nicks can be seen, especially under the nose. The driver's side mirror is missing. The driver's seatback is slightly bent. The fluid reservoirs need attention. The black tonneau cover has two holes. The rubber gaskets show their age. You may see more information and pictures at xkedata.com if you enter the serial number, 1E16348.
This beautiful XKE Roadster has been in my family for 47 years. The original owner was a young lady who was forced to sell it when she got engaged; she burst into tears when she signed over the California title to my dad in the late 60s. My father drove it around Huntington Beach, California for several years (buyer will receive his California registration cards) before putting it into storage for fifteen years when we moved to Oklahoma. Dad gave it to my wife and me 29 years ago as a wedding present, and I drove it cross-country and parked it with temporary Connecticut plates. During this trip, the jag was reliable and fun. My wife and I are still together, but my mother-in-law insists that I get it out her garage.
I have not started the car in 28 years and do not plan to for this auction. It was running smoothly when parked, although it did not pass Connecticut emissions. We pulled off the tarp last week and rinsed off the grime so it's a barn find. My dad is still alive and he and I will attempt to answer any questions. He touched up the paint and went over the car before giving it to us as a wedding present in 1987, but it's exceptionally original to my knowledge: it even has a numbered Union key. The certificate from Jaguar Heritage Trust reflects its originality. My sole change was to put on new tires 29 years ago.Payment should be in the form of a money order or wire transfer. Buyer is responsible for shipping.
I appreciate your interest, but am not interested in trades, buy it now or ending the auction early. This is my third eBay motors auction and both the prior cars went to happy new homes. I only ask of the new owners that they wear seat belts and fill this baby with high test!We will take a cashier's check or cash. Buyer is responsible for shipping.
