The OE GM 3spd Transmission shifts very smoothly, yet with a good crisp kick-down when needed/stepped-on...The 1990 XJ-S received excellent improvements over the '89 -including a Driver's Air Bag and manual 3 point seat belts (no electric track). The steering column is improved & more solid than Pre-1990 models. And the better, more comfortable & contoured seats came in '89 -with the Marelli Igntion (New in this car, as listed above).These brakes and shocks/springs are in good shape (replaced some years ago) -no wobbles, squeaks, pulling, nor thumping. Straight, firm, quiet, quick stops. Excellent, tight, quiet, smooth handling at speed & cornering. 90mph seems like 65..
Repainted OE Red 5+yrs ago, looks great and shiny as photos show -but of course has some chips & flaws -could use wetsand & buff... Clean AutoCheck. CA Car '91-'08, in VA & OH '09-'15, Back to CA in early 2015 when I bought.Odometer stopped years ago at 62,789 shown in Autocheck & stored/garaged in a collection many years, Hardly used past 4 yrs. -Tune up in 2016, ~100 miles ago.Stored in CA & OH 6+ yrs. & only driven 2- 4 times a month by me =Aprox. 72K miles. I recently had 2 other XJ-S V-12s ('89 Coupe' w/40K & '89 Convt. w/90K) -& have 3 Porsche 928s (For Sale too) +a "daily"Saab... So, it's not driven much. This 1990 Certainly doesn't seem to have more than 72K-ish. -Miles are being registered in trip computer, but plastic gears in Odometer jam up & can be replaced -I'm including a spare gauge set w/ full Odom...Well maintained, Solid & Rust Free clean underside & complete "tidy" clean engine bay. I've gone through all hose & wire connections -all tight, leak & corrosion free. No leaks underneath.Wheels are in Great shape, nearly no scrapes. Could use a new headliner, the center console & door panel wood was covered w/ aftermarket vaneer kit -other kit pieces included. Or OE wood replacement pieces are available at JAG dismantle-rs near LA-Palm Springs -along with any other XJS parts. Other XJS Specialists/parts sellers can be found on eBay & I'll share more.-I've been a Car-Nut/Collector/Restorer/Fixer for 25+ years -focus on high-end, GTs, sports cars, classic muscle, etc.. Judge at some local SD car shows.. Know good & bad aspects, and like to ensure things work.
-This '90 XJS for sale has No Catalytic Converters =Better power & sound... but won't pass CA Smog =Can't register in CA (until Cats installed). Sold AS IS to NON-CA Buyer. (4 aftermarket Cat.s are $220 on eBay, exhaust shop install ~$3-400.)AZ, NV, TX, NM, MT, UT, WA, OR, ID, etc. have far easier emissions/regulations so, registering in these states shouldn't be an issue, like in CA.
