1959 Jaguar XK150 'S'OTS Roadster with Overdrive

“A True British Classic Sports Car, nd being an'S' model withOverdriveits VERY RARE and COLLECTABLE"

Recommended in Automobile Magazine as a car to “BUY” as prices have been sneaking higher but have yet to really sky rocket, aking this a great car to purchase today and an Excellent Investment for tomorrow. This coincides with a couple articles recently published by the Wall Street Journal on the topic of Investing in Classic Cars. The one article specifically mentioned that it’s the European Open Cars/Roadsters that are performing the best in the Classic Car Market Place. There were fewer of these made than other Classic Cars making them more Rare and better Investments.

Hagerty Retail Book Value for a Concours XK150'S' OTS Roadsteris $235,000 USD

A "Black" XK150 just sold a few weeks ago for $646,611 USDon December 6, 015at the Bonhams London UK auction ---- and it was a DHC (Drop Head Coupe) which is typically 30% less than a Roadster, nd it wasn't an 'S' which would also make it less desirable. The XK150 Jaguars are definitely continuing to attract attention in the Collector / Investment Market place; especially those that are restored to #1 Concours condition.

At the time the XK150 Jaguar was launched it did not grab the world’s attention in the way that its predecessors had. However in hindsight it is recognized as the superb car it is, ith more refinement than any previous XK. What would turn out to be the final glorious incarnation of Jaguar’s fabulous ‘XK’ series of sports car arrived in 1957. As its nomenclature suggests, he XK150 was a progressive development of the XK120 and XK140, etaining the same basic chassis, .4-litre engine and four-speed Moss transmission of its predecessors while benefiting from a new, ider body that provided increased interior space and improved visibility courtesy of a single-piece wrap-around windscreen, eplacing the XK140’s divided screen. Cleverly, he new body used many XK120/140 pressings, he increased width being achieved by means of a 100mm-wide central fillet. A higher front wing line and broader radiator grille were other obvious differences, ut the new model’s main talking point was its Dunlop disc brakes. Fade following repeated stops from high speed had been a problem of the earlier, rum-braked cars, ut now the XK had stopping power to match its prodigious straight-line speed. The XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by one trimmed in leather. Thinner doors gave more interior space.

The XK150 was available at first only in fixed and drophead, 2+2’ coupé forms, he open two-seater version not appearing until the following year. Disc brakes apart, he chassis remained much as before, s did the 3.4-litre, ix-cylinder engine that produced 190bhp as standard or 210bhp in ‘Special Edition’ form when fitted with the ‘B’-type cylinder head. The four-speed Moss gearbox continued while overdrive and automatic transmission were optional. “The Jaguar XK150 is undeniably one of the world’s fastest andsafest cars. It is quiet and exceptionally refined mechanically, ocile and comfortable. “We do not know of a more outstanding example of value for money”, oncluded the authoritative Autocar magazine.

For those who demanded even greater performance an ‘S’ option became available concurrently with the launch of the sportiest ‘OTS’ (open two-seater) roadster body style. Distinguishable by its gold painted, traight port head, strong>the ‘S’ boasted triple SU carburetors, ree flow inlet manifold, :1 pistons, ead bronze bearings and a lightened flywheel, hese features helping to liberate 250bhp. The later 3.8 Ltrversion claimed an extra 15bhp but experts agree that the 3.4 ‘S’ is the sweetest of all XK engines.

Adding to the value of this car is that it is a 2 owner car, nd WELL documented to support its history. Those that collect cars as an investment will truly appreciate the value this adds to the car. The most recent owner owned the car for over 25 years. The car has spent most of its life preserved in a garage until about 2 years ago when the current owner decided to give it a complete restoration. The entire restoration was documented and as seen in the photos, o expense was spared. The final master piece is absolutely stunning! The XK150 model 'S' is an extremely rare car to begin with, and to see one as nice as this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Since the car was restored it has been VERY WELL cared for being stored in a climate controlled garage; less than 100 miles have been put on the car since the restoration completion. Considering the detail and effort that went into the restoration, ore important than the money, s finding a home where it will be cared for to the same level that is currently being done today.

Restoration Process…

First the car was completely disassembled. The frame and body were sent tobody shops to be stripped to bare metal and thoroughly cleaned before painting. After all frame members, ody, hrome, lectrical and mechanicals were restored to perfect condition, he reassembly process commenced.

Electrical / Mechanical

The reassembly started with the suspension, rakes, uel tank, nd fuel and brake lines. The brake system was completely rebuilt, s were the 2 fuel pumps. The springs were removed and refurbished/replaced, nd all seals and bearings were replaced. A brand new stainless exhaust was installed, hich sounds amazing! Not to mention as the car was assembled, very nut and bolt was cleaned and either replated or repainted, r replaced. The engine was completely rebuilt as well as the triple SU carbs, nd all relevant electrical/mechanicals.. During the process all the wiring was replaced new including the entire ignition system. Finally the engine and body were remounted, nd new Dayton wirewheels and new tires were installed (Firestone Cavallinos).

Paint and Bodywork

The entire body was bead blasted and/or chemically treatedto bare metal. As shown in the restoration documentation the car was very clean and free of rust prior to the restoration, nd sporting all original factory sheet metal. After the engine and all frame mounted parts were installed, he car went to a high end restoration shop that specials in classic/vintage cars for paint. The final result is a breath taking rich black exterior wet-sanded and polished to a deep glass-like finish.

Interior

The quality of the interior is second to none, hich we are extremely proud to say. The sumptuous hides were cut and sewn by John Skinner LTD, well-known interior restoration shop in the UK. They also made the carpets with the proper woolen stock that was used on the original cars coming out of the factory. They were a premium price, ut as with most things you definitely get what you pay for. This clearly shows in the photos of car and is what will set this XK150'S' apart from any other XK150 you’ve seen. After fabrication, he interior and top were shipped to the U.S. and installed by a well experiencedspecialist.

MONDAY, /15/16 POST ---- I've been asked what the difference is between the XK120, he XK140, nd the XK150 is. If you check my add I tried to explain it; in general the XK150 is much more refined in terms of more room, ore comfort, indows, tc. etc. If you are over 5'8" you'll have a challenge fitting into the XK120 due to the VERY limited space in the XK120. In an XK150 there is PLENTY of room; I havea friendthatis 6'4" andhe can fit into an XK150. It's also great to have windows rather than curtains in case it starts to rain.

The other big difference is PERFORMANCE. The XK120 derived it's name from the fact that it could go 120 MPH. Well as you can guess the XK150 derived it's name due to the fact that it can go 150MPH. And if the XK150 is an "S", s this one is, t's even quicker.

TUESDAY, /17/16 POST ----- I was asked if one shop restored the entire car. The restoration of the car included several shops; all experts in what they do. The interior was purchased from John Skinner Inc.out of the UK, nd then put in by professionals in Minnesota. The engine was done by a high end engine rebuilder that does nothing but restore and build high performance engines and has done MANY Jaguar engines( Total Engine Service - Bloomington Minnesota). The body was done by a professional body shop that has many years of experience in doing restoration work. And the remaining misc electrical/mechanical work, nd final assembly was done by another shop that again is very experience in what they do. ALL OF THESE SHOPS ARE AVAILABLE and happy to discuss what they did involving their participation on the restoration of this car.

And as we stated in the initial Ad the car was a complete SOLID matching numbers car to begin with----------and purchased from the ORIGINAL OWNER 20+ years ago; this is all WELL DOCUMENTED.

The car is available for inspection; there areseveral Professional Inspection Houses here in Minneapolis that know Classic Jaguars well. One such Inspection Business is "Classic Car Appraisal Service" out of Atlanta Georgia; they haveoffices throughout the country includingin Minnesota. Their people are often seen judging at concours shows here in the Midwest. The link to their businessis http://www.carappraisalminnesota.com/. Their tele # is 612-804-9406.

Remember, f you have ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS don't hesitate to call me.
