This is a concours quality restoration of a 1953 Jaguar XK120 built into a competitive vintage race car. It was built to be equally at home on the race track or on the lawn at the Pebble Beach concours. This car has raced at the Monterey Historics four times including a race against the legendary Phil Hill himself! The logbook is full of races up and down the west coast in the HMSA and CSRG.
The frame was rebuilt from the ground up, with all suspension modified within period race rules. The 3.4 liter engine (from a XK150) was just rebuilt to the previous 290 hp spec with only a few hours break-in time only. It has new high compression JE pistons, new Carillo rods, full race head with custom porting, oversized valves, high lift cams, etc. SU H8 sandcast carbs with custom cold air box fed by a fresh air duct. This Jaguar was built into a period correct drum brake race car. The drums have been drilled and vented with custom air scoops.
The car was built using a rust free car and the beautiful paint shows very little wear from racing. All panel gaps are excellent. The rollbar unbolts easily for street driving or touring.
This Jaguar runs and drives well and would only need minor sorting such as updated seat belts to race again. This car comes with a lots of spare sparts, everything you would need for many years of racing. These parts include a spare crankshaft, cylinder head with cams (one combustion chamber needs work), a new set of JE high compression pistons, a spare set of SU H8 sandcast carbs, rebuilt distributor, intake manifold, transmission bellhousing, rear end differential, extra sets of brake rotors and shoes, four 16 inch wheels, plus many many more. It still includes many of its original parts such the original seats, bumpers and brackets, and original distributor. Please look closely at the picture link for all the parts that are included.
The cost to reproduce this car today would be astronomical. Although this is certainly not an inexpensive car, it is able to compete with even more exotic cars such as Ferrari and Maserati. This would be an excellent car for road rallies such as the California Mille and the Colorado Grand. It would perfect for a trip back to England for the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Again, please look closely at all the pictures and don't hesitate to ask any questions. I am happy to sell this car anywhere in the world and can assist the buyer with transport and shipping.
