1973 International Harvester Other Additional Info:
This 1973 1310 dump truck was used in our IH Truck and Scout parts business for about the last six years ( ihscout.com formerly Barnes International Trucks ). It has been a great truck. We are only selling it because we have upgraded to a larger truck. We kept this one for the last two years because we hated to sell it, very reliable and has been easy on maintenance. We purchased from the original owner who maintained it well from the start. He claimed mileage to be original. It was used as a chipper truck before wepurchasedit. It had an enclosed topper on the bed and held wood chips for his tree trimming service. Therefore this bed is in very good shape for its age. Mostly rust and dent free except for the tailgate. The bed floor still will hold water if sitting down hill. When we purchased the truck we primarily used it for hauling our scrap iron. The PA inspection expired in June 2013 but was run for another year with a PA farmexemptionsticker, not because itwouldn'tpass inspection, rather the tag fee and insurance was much less. Overall it has been a great truck that we hate to let go, but we just do not have the need for it any more. We hauled many loads of scrap and plenty of loads of stone for our parking lot!
Details of the truck are as follows:
- 304 V8- 4 speed trans- 8 foot bed, twin dump cylinder. Original "Aristocrat" bed as sold by IH in 1973- Average rust for a 1973 IH. Has front floor rust on both floors and some rust on the hinge pillars. Not majorly structural, but definite rust. the inner fenders and radiator support also have rust.- The six tires are aged and dry cracked. We ran it on these tires with no problems. I will include for free to the high bidder six excellent condition matched tires that we acquired and were going to put on this truck. IF the buyer doesnt want them, thats ok too!- Passenger side tail light is broken and will need to be replaced.
This is a budget friendly truck for the farm owner, occasional user, tradesman etc. Probably notrecommendedas a 7 day a week truck, but still has lots of life left! Please call with questons of concerns. One main concern for these older trucks is whether they will pass each states inspection (which varies state by state.) Please call us at 717-875-2271
