1966 International Harvester Scout Additional Info:
Bought out of an estate, this is an extremely original 1966 International Scout 800. It has only surface rust but NO rust-throught at all in any of the panels. This Scout's original patina was too cool for me to paint, so I left it in its original state.
The frame and underside of this SUV are completely rust-free (see pics). The floors are original and totally solid. Besides the brand new upholstery and new wheels/tires, this Scout is 100% like it came from the factory. When I got it, the original seat was still in it, but the vinyl was dry and the foam/padding had seen better days. The wheels and tires were 20 years old and in desperate need of replacement, so I upgraded the size a bit and put on brand new rubber and rims from Discount Tire (receipt and warranty available). I have the original hard top (missing one side window and bolts), but I love the look without the top.
Mechanically the Scout is in excellent shape. The mileage is original at 88,000. It has its original Comanche motor which is a very sought after inline 4 cylinder. It was very easy to get running. We removed the gas tank and cleaned it. Rebuilt the carburetor. Blew out all fuel lines. The brake system was completely overhauled all the way around, including a new brake master cylinder under the hood. It starts, runs, drives, and stops just as it should. All lights and signals lights works so it is ready to be driven. The 4X4 (four wheel drive) works as it should in 4 Hi and 4 Lo.
