Before we begin, I want you to know that like you, I'm a classic car & truck fanatic and I also consider myself an automotive preservationist.Ispecialize in hunting for high quality survivor classic cars & trucks in need of rescuing. I revive them, and connect the vehicles (& their stories) with new caretakers.I am dedicated to honoring the history of classic cars, and ensuring the stories of these rolling pieces of history are told. This listing is a little different from most in two ways. First, this incredibly cool Scout is being listed in its "as found" state. The new owner will have complete control over where to go and what to do with this truck. Second, I am listing this Scout for a friend. My name is on the listing, though, so I am here from start to finish with this sale.
I've been a seller on eBayer since 1998 and take tremendous pride in only receiving positive feedback over the last 21+ years.I bring 27 years of knowledge, connections, and invested experience, but I never stop learning.I've owned scores of vehicles over the years and have made many sight unseendeals (many here on eBay) to buy or sell cars across the country. Please take a moment to read through the complimentary feedback left by buyers over the years.
In addition, I strongly believe in the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words." The Internet has allowed us in our hobby to search for cars nationwide and it's my hope to make you as comfortable as possible with this purchase. In addition to nearly 100 photos of the Scout, please see the videos below as well. We want to present this Scout's condition accurately and honestly.I am listing this Scout for a friend, but if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call me. My name is Jeff and I can be reached at 414-940-8848 before 9:00 p.m. central time.
Condition
This 1965 International Scout 80 is the last of the "original" Scout 80's made from 1960-1965. Originally purchased up near the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota, our understanding is this Scout was used as a hauler on a local farm and has just 77,350 original miles. The current owner purchased the Scout about 10 years ago from the grandson of who we believe is the original owner. The truck appears complete and doesn't have the top or interior missing like so many others out there. I did not attempt to remove the top.
Since his purchase about 10 years ago, the current owner just used the Scout on his farm to haul items around. For the last several years, though, the Scout just sat, and the decision was made to let a new owner enjoy it as is, or start a restoration. This '65 Scout just oozes cool. It's a project, but it is worth saving, has low miles, and excellent bones.
This Scout features the 152 inline 4 cylinder engine, manual transmission, and 4 wheel drive. I believe the transmission has a high/low gear, so you actually have 6 total gears.
The exterior patina can be viewed two ways. Some, including me, have said "Leave It Alone!" My vision for this Scout is to go through it mechanically, get it road worthy, and drive it as is. I'd leave the rust and patches just the way they are, as I absolutely love the look. For others, this may be a dynamite father/son restoration project. Others may have their creative gears turning and envision a resto-mod of sort. The possibilities are endless...
Mechanically, the Scout fires up easily, as seen in the video. There is no smoke at start-up and the owner reports that the engine has run well for him. The transmission also works properly. The owner reports that the 4 wheel drive with manual hubs operates properly, too. Unfortunately, in the days leading up to selling the truck, a brake line blew while moving it on the property. All 4 tires hold air, but are badly weather-checked. As seen in the videos, the exhaust could use replacement, too. This Scout should have some reconditioning before being roadworthy, so also plan on replacing belts, hoses, and doing a tune-up as well. Please remember this truckis in unrestored condition and should be considered a project.
The Western plow operates and is included with the sale.
The interior is complete, but as seen in the photos, the back seat is not bolted down. The driver's side front seat appears to be torn under the seat cover, but the passenger seat looks good from what I can see.
Underneath, the Scout appears to be in nice, midwest condition. The frame appears solid and rust seems to be mostly surface level, and not completely crusty like we've all seen over the years up here in Wisconsin. Some of the floorboard braces appear to be rusted through, so possibly plan to replace the floor, depending on what your plan is for the truck. For those of you down south, please don't expect this undercarriage to look like it came from Arizona.
Listing Sale Terms and Conditions

Please remember that your high bid is a COMMITMENT TO BUY this car. Because opinions of vintage cars can vary, please have the car inspected or inspect the car in person PRIOR to bidding. Any inspection fees are the responsibility of the bidder. I cannot stress enough that I am asking bidders to follow through on their commitment if you bid.
