1978 Arizona Scout II
345 V8, Manual Trans,
4x4, Convertible, A/C, PS/PB
Holiday Greetings to all you Binder Enthusiasts. Up for Auction is this super solid AZ Scout II. This friggin’ cool vintage SUV represents exactly the way a Scout should look…ready to take on any terrain and have fun doing it! The Scout just returned from our Thanksgiving camping trip and went over 350 mi without even so much as a hiccup. She ran perfect and even rescued a Jeep that was stuck in the sand! She has a very stout 345 in it that starts up every time effortlessly without any smoke or weird noises. New aluminum radiator and is coupled to a manual 4spd that works great without any issues. Power steering with a Steer Straight Support Brace. Power brakes with discs up front. Small lift with add-a-leafs and 33” BFG’s with plenty of thread. Perfect height with plenty of clearance. Check out the pics and look at the solid body mounts! NO RUST and super nice along with new urethane bushings. The interior is nice with a newly re-covered back seat. The front bench seat has few small tears on each of the top corners but not bad. Pictured without dash pad because the cracks bothered me to look at so would rather look at the dash without the pad temporarily. They make nice plastic covers that slide right over the existing pad for $120. Has A/C but not charged but complete…fan even works! All gauges/lights work with the exception of a haunted speedo…think it’s just dry because it kinda jumps around when driving. Floors have been coated and looks great. I’m pretty confident the top has never been off because the door seals look original and have never been cut. Moving outside, the paint is not show quality but looks good and matches the Scouts personality. There are two primer spots by each exterior mirror. I can only speculate that the prev owner had different mirrors on it prior to the current mirrors but I can tell you the primer is not hiding any rust or cancer…for sure! This is an Arizona Scout and super solid in the normal cancer stricken areas. All the glass is in great shape. Check out the sweet roof rack. This thing is ready for your next adventure with spare tire, shovel, ax and hi-lift jack. Up front, it has an 8k winch that works great with all of the cabling and remote control. Another cool feature is a front tow bar which is included in the sale. Tow behind your RV and your golden. The later Year Scouts are by far the best looking and are more modern equipped with better brakes and better Dana’s. The Arizona Title is clear, Notarized, signed and ready to go. Serious bidders only…please check with your boss before clicking that “Bid” box. This true American Icon is so fun to drive and draws attention everywhere it goes. Fairly priced with a low reserve. Would make a great Xmas gift for that special person. Where else are going to find a great Scout like this that is not rusted out and not a POS for under 10K? Restored, they are pulling ridiculous money which makes it a great investment!
Haggerty Insurance said this about International Scouts: “International Scouts SUV’s are up by 85%” and that “These SUV’s are going to be the next big thing”.
