1953 International Harvester Other Long bed service model Additional Info:
Up for auction is my 1953 International L110. Heads turn and people smile when they see this original old survivorcoming down the road. Top speed is only53 mph. First gear is a compound low gear and it will climb a mountain very slowly, but with authority! This is an out of service Edison Truck from Ventura County Ca. It could be restored. I've seen trucks like this that have been beautifully restored, or you could keep it like it is, which is what I chose when I bought this truck 6 years ago at The Johnny Cash Festival in Ventura, CA. It runs good, other than a little smoke, which I think is due to worn rings. I've been driving it just like it is for the past 6 years. It's not my everyday driver, but it could be. I've rented this truck out for weddings and photo shoots. This would make an exceptional delivery truck for a business, or a ranch or vineyard truck. You won't see many like this. The cab lights ( devil horns) make it rare, as does the 8 foot bed, which comes in handy. I love going to get my Christmas tree in this truck. It brings a certain nostalgia, reminds folks of a much simpler time. People have often stopped me and asked if I wanted to sell her, but up until now I haven't. Now it's time for me to downsize. I have entirely too much stuff that I don't use very much. "Gertie" is no exception. She is sure to bring some happiness to someone's life. You will love this old truck. I bought Gertie from a trusted mechanic and his wife. They went through every detail on this truck. The rear end was completely rebuilt. New steering arms, new master brake cylinder, new brakes, new tires, all hoses and belts replaced. New radiator. new alternator, new coil, converted to 12 volt. Kill switch installed. New electronic ignition. the list goes on. I like that the hood actually opens from both sides. It's easy to get to the engine, and its easy to work on.The old girl still has lots of life in her for being a 63 year old truck. Parts are not hard to find. I don't drive her much, and I need to downsize. Somebody is going to be stoked on thisreally cool old pickup truck!Good luck!
