1961 International Harvester Metro 3//4 ton Additional Info:
This vehicle was a farm field find. It was restored outside by a professional back to near original. We kept as much of the original body shap and construction as possible. Added rear wheel fenders. The sliding service window was added and there was no back doors on this unit. I had a roll up installed. This is a 3/4 ton truck and is about 19 feet in length. Brake drums were turned with new wheel cylinders, new brake shoes, bearings and a master cylinder. The carburetor was rebuilt and new wiring harness, plugs, plug wires, points and condenser were also installed. New Hankook tires with imitation white walls, new hoses and alternator. The cabin is painted pink but did not do much to it. The drivers seat is original and upholstered in black and pink to match the outside. The fiberglass engine cover is also upholstered in black with pink trim. The restoration was completed 4 years ago and I had it in indoor heated storage every winter. I have put about 5,000 miles on it and just changed the oil. It was down about 1/2 quart and just as clean as it was when I put the oil in. This vehicle starts and runs great, just not fast. 45 mph is about the top speed however if you push it you can make 55 but it is working pretty hard. I can only guess but as the speedometer and odometer both work and the mileage on the odometer has 100,000 capability that this may be the original miles but this is only a guess. The inside is finished in white aluminum professionally installed with a stainless steel window insert. Just this month I had a cool retro service counter built with red & white boomerang top and my own extruded aluminum edge molding. It has 110 volt wiring on drivers side with 4 outlets in the back and 2 110 volt florescent lights on the side. There are 2 led lights in the roof but are not hooked up. The wires are there but no connected. I may do that this week. I am using the truck for ice cream sales at a local car show this week end and then am finished for the year. I only used it 3 times this year so has little use on it. Sale does not include the generator or the freezer. You can have whatever you wish inside. A good winter project.
