1938 International Harvester D - 2 Additional Info:
Selling my 1938 International 1/2 ton pickup truck. It is the D-2 model produced only from 1937-1940. The engine has just been rebuilt with all machine work done at Big Al's Toy Box in Gaylordsville, Ct. (check out their website for high performance-race car engines). All new pistons, rings, valves, valve seats, polished crank. milled head, planed block, all new gaskets and engine balancing. All original drivetrain with original 213 Green Diamond 6cyl. flathead engine, four speed tranny and rear end rebuilt, driveshaft balanced. Good tires, brakes and wiring. Mechanically all re-done. Has period correct working AM radio, Unity 6v spotlight, period correct windshield washer and electric wipers. Newly rebuilt generator, starter and new regulator. ALL gauges, lights, turn signals and 2-speed heater w/ defrost work perfectly. Windows have new channel felt and go up and down effortlessly. Windshield cranks out perfectly with excellent frame, glass and gasket. Doors lock with original keys. Engine compartment is clean and nicely detailed. Front-end & steering is tight.
Body ALL steel, NO rust- NO rot- solid throughout !! Original dry climate mid-Washington State and Central California truck Old "brush" paint job showing its age with chips and scrapes but has offered many years of protection. There are many small dings and a couple of creases in rear fender but not bad for a 78 year old truck ! This has been my EVERYDAY driver for the past three years. I have hauled firewood, mulch and top soil using this truck as a "working" truck BUT lovingly taking care all the way ! These Internationals are tough, old work horses featuring a steel pickup bed rather than woo, metal interior side kicks, rather than cardboard ones just to name a couple of the "heavier duty" construction details of these fine trucks.
A TON of parts will be included with this truck. A partial list as follows:
213 engine(mounted on rolling dolly)
front axle-drum to drum
rear axle-drum to drum
1-4sp. tranny
2-3sp. trannies
complete dash units w/ gauges
various NOS gauges
spare tranny gears
artillery wheels
running board
stainless trim parts
fender braces
bumper brackets
water pumps
window regulators
and MUCH MORE !
Internationals are not like Chevy's, Ford's or even Dodge's. Parts are hard to come by...so this treasure trove of spares are a valuable asset ($$$$) and will be included.
I strongly encourage and welcome any SERIOUS buyer to inspect this truck in person and would make myself available at their convenience.
These D-2 Internationals are rare and have that classic head-turning styling that ALWAYS brings admiring comments...especially being in its original "patina" condition ! When have you seen another one ??
Please e-mail me if there are any questions or additional information needed. Thanks for looking !
