1981 Honda CM400A 50871 Additional Info:
. In the late '70s, Honda introduced the concept of an automatic transmission. To brand it, they used the term Hondamatic. It was seen as another avenue to introduce new riders. The 400A, with its 396cc engine, was seen as a gateway bike, but is still capable of driving over 70 MPH! Their system allowed the engine and transmission to use the same oil. Although it is clutchless, the transmission does require shifting from the low to high range. Since it can’t be “bump started,” it is also fitted with a kick starter. These also had an air suspension front end, and the valves are still intact on this unit. Only 834 miles are indicated!
