1990 Honda Civic DX Additional Info:

If you see this ad, car is still available. I will take down this ad promptly when it's sold.

Note: I just retitled the car from MD to WV. I don't know why the WV DMV did not list on the title the odometer reading I gave them, but it might be age of vehicle. Anyway, the odometer is accurate even though the ad mentions odometer issue. I'm self-employed and work at home, so don't log lots of miles.
Reliable transportation that could be fixed up to look better. I am only the second owner. I bought it in 1993 and have owned and loved it for 27+ years. Until one year ago it was my primary transportation so I took good care of it. I finally bought a newer car and am ready to say good-by to my beloved Honda. Clean WV title in my name only. Current WV sticker. Odometer accurate.

THE GOOD
Starts and runs reliably. Never been in an accident. Oil changed regularly about every 3 months. I have decades of service records to show. Timing belt replaced about two years ago (I have documentation) and this was the 3rd or 4th time I'd replaced the timing belt. Engine was rebuilt about 10 years ago. Front windshield replaced about two years ago. Tires: an expert looked at them last week and said they were OK for at least six months. The spare is a little bald, but OK for a spare. Plus: comes with 4 extra snow tires. Brakes good. Back seats fold down perfectly to make long cargo bed. Entire front end suspension was rebuilt in phases about five years ago -- during inspection two weeks ago, the mechanic said the car was "tight up front". Manual transmission good. Battery OK. Heat OK. Two years ago, after someone bumped my front left corner in a parking lot, a body shop replaced several dented body parts and painted them. Front seats are firm and functional and I just cover them with seat covers. Front dashboard looks amazingly clean for its age (see photo).

THE BAD
(1) After running on the highway and warming up for about 5-10 minutes, the check engine light comes on. Don't know why. It's been like this for years without other problems. (2) In recent months, the car occasionally hesitates briefly when running at high revs, especially under load. (3) The AC compressor died years ago and it's too expensive to fix it, so no AC. (4) Electric system: it developed a slow, mysterious leak about 10 years ago and my mechanic finally installed a separate electric override key on the dashboard (see photo). This key just turns off all electric power so protects the battery. I can leave the electric key on overnight and car will still start the next morning, but the battery will drain in about 24 hours. I use the second electric system key routinely without hassle, and consider it a bonus anti-theft device. (5) Rear suspension is hard, but I don't notice. (6) Air vent: there is some obstruction in the cabin air intake so running the fan on low admits little air. I was told one would have to take apart the dashboard to clean out the air intake, so I just turn up the fan to middle or high and have lived with it as is for years.
THE UGLY
To look good, it needs a paint job (color is light gold). The top is especially rough. There are body rust spots near three of the wheels. The inside roof lining is intact but has many small holes and creases. The interior floor lining is loose in several places. On the left front quarter panel, a short piece of trim is missing. The right rear brake light has a crack in the lens but works fine.

Serious inquiries only. Questions welcome.
